BANGKOK, Thailand — An American teacher and TikTok star has been arrested in Thailand after allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old girl he met online, authorities said.

Luke ____ was arrested on Saturday in the Thai capital, Bangkok, according to police. He appeared in court on Monday night and was released on bail.

The girl’s family said he passed on sexually transmitted diseases that caused her to become unwell. NBC News could not verify this allegation and police have not commented on it.

Police Col. Vajirakorn Wongboon of the Royal Thai Police confirmed ____’s arrest, that he was teaching English in Bangkok and the age of the complainant. ____ was charged with “taking away” a minor from the parent or legal guardian “for indecent purpose with the consent of such minor.”

It is unclear whether ____ has legal representation in Thailand. ____ has not commented publicly about the case. His Tiktok account, @English_with_teacherluke, has 1.3 million subscribers but has been set to private. He did not immediately respond to a request for comment via Facebook.

The girl’s mother, who is 40, told NBC News that ____ met her daughter in March when she had just turned 16 and that the pair met at ____’s home because he didn’t want to be seen in public with her.

Wow, I would have assumed the age of consent in Thailand was 16 or lower.

If teacher Luke hadn’t given that child VD, the parents may have given him their blessings. Running around spreading STDs makes one wonder how many other girls, or boys has this man been with. Also, what did he plan on doing with all those videos? He couldn’t be so stupid as to carry that stuff back to the US, and risk getting a 20 year cp trafficking charge. But then again, he was dumb enough to catch vd by having unprotected sex in Southeast Asia

May not be so bad if the teacher was 18 y.o. given the age of consent being 15 y.o. None of the articles gives his age or shows his face. We need all the facts before making any judgement.

If this man knows what’s best for him, he better raise money, or dig into his pockets and start bribing some officials and paying the parents off big time. Because once the US government gets wind of his escapades with a 16 year old, he’ll be serving his time at Leavenworth when he gets home. Luckily, these foreign cases are hard to prosecute without the cooperation of a victim and their government. So that’s where cash comes in handy to line some pockets.

I can only imagine what the USN says when they pull into P. Beach for port of call after being O. City in the PI for so long. #ifykyk (Crazy thing, the recaptcha displays a scene from Thailand today)
