I disagree.
What is real for us here is real.
No, the enemy isn’t busting down our doors and cutting our throats. But … if charged with a FTR violation, you could easily get a new felony conviction and 1, 2, 5, 10 years in prison. That is very real and it is certainly not “nothing.
A question: Registrants aren’t allowed to carry firearms but there are other forms of self protection ie. TR-50 CO2 air pistol. This weapon is only effective short range to get away from an attack. Law enforcement generally views such as toys. What are the laws around these?
Travel from IL to WI question to make sure I understand this: IL requires notification of leaving your residence within 3 days. WI requires you register within 10 days. SORNA federally requires notification within 3 days. So to be totally safe, if a PFR wants to leave IL to visit WI, and only stays 48 hours, no one needs to be notified and there are no legal registry ramifications if involved in a car accident or something of that nature.
We have never traveled before and I want to get this right.
I just returned from my first ACSOL conference. A gigantic thank you goes out to all of the presenters, the ACSOL Board, and those that assisted with the organization of the event. The fellowship that was shared by all was fantastic. If you did not attend, I recommend that you view the session videos after they are placed online.
The more I think about all this, the more in awe I become. Let’s recap. We have a group of people who committed a crime, did their time, finished their sentence and should be free to live their lives like every other free person. Sure, there are some restrictions that apply to felons, like not being able to possess a firearm or travel to Canada. But that applies to ALL felons, regardless of the offense. Then we have the PFRs who have been offense free for often decades, yet they are added to some sort of HIT LIST to be shamed and for everyone to see. Halloween signs have to be posted to show “there is no candy at this residence”. Some can’t decorate for Halloween, and some have to turn off their lights and are not allowed to open the door to Trick or Treaters. Sure, they can travel, but with a bunch of restrictions. They get a STAMP in their passport. They have to notify LE that they are traveling internationally, and even if they traveled domestically, they have to jump through hoops to not overstay their visit, or they face incarceration. They have to give fingerprints and are photographed at least one a year, as if they are being booked all over again. They get “compliance checks” outside of the only once a year requirement. They are excluded from many laws, like automatic expungement. So, if anyone reads this, I can only say “REALLY?”. They have lost all of their minds. If any LE, judge or politician etc reads this, they certainly would have to see how idiotic this is, and how it has spiraled out of control. It is time to end this insanity. The US already has a bad reputation. This is madness and has to be stopped NOW! If you read it out loud, you will really see the insanity of all this. Embarrassing that they have aimed their focus on one group and can’t admit the mistakes they have done and the harm they have caused.
I was just released from Federal Prison and I am a 62 year old Veteran due to receive Social Security Disability Payments. But I can not receive any payments until I am released from the halfway house. I need those payments to find a place to live so that I can be released. I’m stuck and don’t understand how I can find a place with no available cash. Help!

A question… I have petitioned to NJ to come off community supervision for life (CSL). I meet the requirements. My hired law firm says that there is no delegated time frame. So, I wait forever, how long, is there a recourse?
After being on the registry since I was a teenager for 288(a), earlier this year I was assigned as a Tier III as the crime occurred in two states with the same victim. Nearly 25 years later and after being assigned to a Tier III classification, I decided to apply for my contractor’s license and obtained it! After I had gotten in trouble as a teenager, I committed to turn my life around and obtained a bachelors and graduate degree and remained employed in the insurance and construction industries. After decades of hard work and keeping my nose clean, I was able to appeal to the CSLB my situation and they approved my application and I’m now a licensed contractor!
A 24 social worker from Ohio was arrested for having sex with a 13 year old multiple in September. Another example of someone not on the registry, someone the victim knows, and a trusted figure.
So I got my background check results from Better Future. It shows nothing at all except for me being on the registry. Any future employer getting a background check on me will see me on the registry and be able to go to the ML site and get all the details.
I’m in the Information Tech field, 23 years experience, what are the odds that I can find a job that won’t be checking my background? Am I totally screwed now?
I really want to leave my current job (which I got before I was added to the public site) because it sucks but I think I might be stuck now.
Does anyone know of an attorney in North Carolina who deals with sex offender issues? I would like to have a consult with them about moving there. 1983 288(a) conviction, Tier 2, and now off the registry. Looking for an understanding of international travel to non-Schengen countries. I was led to believe that once not an RSO
I would be free to travel but that does not seem to be the case. I believe there are serious
discussions to have this law changed. Be that as it may, is it possible through legal channels to receive approval to travel to these other countries?

If it was summited on the 23th and they wait the customary 2 weeks then looking at he filled IPF (which is indigent) vs paid so that now makes it November 9th distribution schedule with December 1 being the conference.
Again I could be wrong but just my semi-research opinion.
So I don’t know what the chances of it are for it to be heard but this case is on the door step of the Supreme Court and by the end of the year we should know what the outcome will be. Fingers crossed.
Before the comments start up about the mass shooter in Maine, he was a registered “sex offender” according to reports.
Now reports on social media are saying the shooter is a different Robert Card than the person convicted of a cp charge in Lewiston, Maine. I guess my first source was along the lines of fake news. So registrants can now breath a sigh of relief since we won’t be targeted for being connected to a mass murder. It looks like the updated fatalities will put Mr Card in the same league as the Las Vegas shooter
I served 11 years And 9 months for distribution of child pornography and was released to a halfway house. I just found out that the BOP placed a public safety factor on me. How can I get this removed? I am not allowed to go to my home confinement address as of now. I received no shots while in prison and I earned three Associate degrees from collage while in.
Does anyone know why attorneys in Texas doesn’t like to return you emails? I’m looking to file a writ. My case is old 1997. But i was coerced into a statement but i was talking to the detective without an attorney. 49 children killed on Halloween over 14 years 3.5 per year. I wonder how many were killed by a registrant? I wonder how many were abducted by a registrant? I wonder how many were sexually assaulted? But yet the public won’t see the real danger.
Question for the group: Is the push in Florida for Death Sentences or Life without the possibility, at least in part, reacting to the writing on the wall?
This ties into some other things I have seen across the Nation, mostly involving bizarre attempts to expand registerable convictions. Cases in point, all the hubbub about “Drag Queens” and Child Sex Dolls? All responses to a fear that the registry, as it is today at least, is coming to an end? Slap the scarlet letter on as many as you can while you can, and then hope it leaves a permanent mark even after it is removed?
Is that also what Garland is up to with his power play to re-register everyone and keep them on forever? He wants to make sure that everyone has a permanent scar that may fade with time, but will never totally go away nor can it ever be completely hidden from sight by those looking for it? Truth is, once you’re on the Enemy of the State website, that information will always be available to those who look for it. The Internet never forgets anything.
The EU had to pass a, “Right to be forgotten” law because of this. The ability to look up stories from people’s past and use that against them got to be so problematic, they put time limits on stories accessable on the internet. One of the very first people that benefited from this law was a man who was convicted of CP production. His conviction was many years in the past but the story of his arrest and conviction was still available on the internet.
So is Garland making sure that you can never really escape the registry even if the registry goes away? This is the best way to make sure that all those that don’t have a story of their arrest and conviction on the internet already because they were arrested and convicted before that became standard for all, still cannot escape their past?

This is very unfortunate that this happened and I hope these kids are ok.
I wonder what kind of signs should have been posted warning of speeding drivers in the area for the kids that were trick or treating. This is serious but unfortunately this does not make the headlines as much as other things do like SO warning signs in front yards of homes of SOs. This happened in Penn last night (Oct 27th 2023)

The Iowa registry didn’t protect three males students from their teacher and neither did the Missouri registry protect a student getting nude pics of his teacher and having her try to rape him. More examples of the registry’s failure again, but Missouri ‘s AG is too busy fretting about signs not being up this Halloween.

(*Yes, the victim punched him in Court after the sentencing.*)

A YouTuber that I follow was arrested a couple days ago at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas and was changed with “Pandering” a class C felony in Nevada. According to him, He meet 2 females at the casino a white girl and a Mexican girl, After partying with them and buying all the drinks he said he noticed the white girl kept bringing up how fast she and her friend can make money by doing dates/escorting. After getting a wired vibe from the females going in and out of the bathroom he decided to leave, As he’s leaving he gets a text message hey where are you we just got two dates $1000 a pice, we’re about by some more drunks and I have $300 for you, thinking they were repaying him for food and drinks from earlier he went back to the casino.
Upon arrival 10 undercover cops pop out and tackle him to the ground, busting his eye open.
While in the interrogation room he found out bout females were COPS and had body cameras on the whole time.
Do I believe he’s innocent No, I believe he was trying to get his money back he lost gambling and the $300 he spent on the females BUT got busted in a undercover police sting. Now he’s out on bond and facing 1-5 and when it’s all said and done he’ll also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
