And now we wait for someone to throw in an amendment that excludes anyone for this if they previously stole some candy when they were 9 (like several states have already done)
I don’t think this Bill will ever see the light of day in current form. But for the sake of argument, assume it passes as written. Why offer an additional $32.5k per year on the registry – on top of the $65k per year in confinement – if it’s not punitive?
Heartwarming that a politician would introduce a bill like that. I wish it extended to the endless Tier bumping.
In 2020, I was bumped from Tier 1 to Tier 3 in CA (228.2 code violation), 29 years after the crime, and the shift directly resulted in loss of income: I had to immediately resign from my family business and literally distance myself from the business site. Not to mention I lost a roommate who rented a bedroom in my place.
I was bumped for no other reason than waking up on Jan 1 2020. Literally not a speeding ticket in almost 30 years.
