CA: CASOMB 3/20/25 Reports Increase in Petitions Files and Granted, Decrease in Persons Required to Register

The California Sex Offender Management Board (CASOMB) met this week and during that meeting, several agency reports were presented.  The reports reflect increases both in the number of petitions filed (+359) and the number of petitions granted (+313) as well as a decrease of more than 1,000 in the total number of people required to register.  Below is a chart listing those and other statistics presented during this week’s meeting.

The next CASOMB meeting is scheduled for May 15, 2025, in Sacramento at 2590 Venture Oaks Way.  The meeting time and additional information is available at www.casomb.org closer to the date of the meeting.

Attendance at CASOMB meetings is in person only and cannot be accessed virtually.  It is not necessary to sign up in advance of meetings in order to attend them.

The statistics in the columns above reflect the difference of two months. That is, what was reported this week as compared to what was reported in January 2025.

I don’t know if this data is available, but I’d be curious to know how many registrants were added and how many were removed not because they ended their registration requirements, but rather moved out of state. Basically, are people being removed due to the Tiered laws quicker than being added.

I understand the organization is busy with a number of issues, but has there been any progress on implementing last year’s recommendations issued by the CASOMB regarding the re-tiering of several offenses? We are nearing April of an odd-numbered year, and history has told us that no positive legislation for registrants ever happens in election years.

It is still BS ! Keep fighting the two most important targets , overturn smith v doe and get rid of the registration requirements for citizens.
