Janice’s Journal: Fraud, Deceit, Murder

The registrant community is in shock today after learning that a 71-year-old registrant was brutally murdered by a 29-year-old stranger.  The violent attack that led to murder began in the registrant’s own home after the stranger falsely identified himself as a CPA going door-to-door looking for new business.  Tragically, the registrant opened the front door of his home, giving the stranger an opportunity to begin his attack.

Although the registrant was able to escape from his home, he was unable to gain help from a car that he tried to flag down.  The registrant then ran two blocks to the home of a neighbor where the stranger stabbed him several times in the neck and throat, leading to his death.

This is a tragedy.  A tragedy that could have been prevented.

That is because the stranger found the name and address of the registrant he murdered on a public website, the California Megan’s Law website, a hitlist for vigilantes.  According to police, the stranger had a list of registrants on his phone from which he chose his ultimate victim.

That stranger told police that all sex offenders “deserve to die” and that he was “not sorry” for killing the registrant.  Instead, the stranger described murdering the registrant as “honestly really fun.”  He also attempted to explain why he murdered the registrant stating that because “everyone hates pedophiles…it should be cool (to kill them).”

This tragedy should be used as Exhibit A to prove that the registry, in general, and all public websites listing registrants, in particular, are punishment!  Despite the U.S. Supreme Court’s mistaken decision in 2003, that registration is an administrative requirement and similar to a membership in Price Club.

Really?  When was the last time a Price Club member was hunted down and murdered? The answer, of course, is never.

The fact is that the registry subjects every person to violent acts, even murder, by complete strangers.  This must stop now!  All registries must be terminated as soon as possible and in the interim, lists of registrants must immediately be removed from public websites.

In memory of the registrant who lost his life, David Brimmer, I will wear a bracelet I have created today for the rest of my life.  The bracelet will remind me that there is much we must do to protect the lives of registrants and their families.  Please join me by wearing a similar item that you have created.  For together we shall overcome by sharing the truth that REGISTRATION IS PUNISHMENT!

How very terribly sad and totally preventable along with other registrants that have been murdered or taken their own lives due to this published death list. May he now rest in peace.

This article broke me. I cried reading it—not just for David Brimmer, but for every name that’s been hunted, erased, or forgotten under the guise of “administrative law.”
I hope someone, somewhere, finally understands: there was only ever one reason our forefathers fought so hard to build something better. They knew the cost of brutal laws. They knew the danger of public lists, mob rule, and state-sanctioned exposure.
Janice, your post is more than powerful—it’s a call to conscience. Thank you for naming the truth so clearly.

Perhaps his family can sue the government for providing the catalyst and information both needed for the murder to occur. If we had enough lawsuits against the government for every time the Registry is utilized in this way be the victim a Mr. Brimmer or Frank, perhaps the payouts would convince lawmakers to take down the Registry. Or would a class action lawsuit by multiple registrants due to the government-created proven danger to ourselves and our loved ones be enough?

This isn’t the first time something like this has happened and politicians did nothing about it. They dont care because the public doesn’t care. They DO think we all deserve death……

A perfect candidate for a restored death penalty. Never thought I would go there. Not at all surprising that news of this outrage was not reported on the east coast.

THIS IS HEARTBREAKING! He tried to escape and was not as lucky as Frank, uggh I am in tears and it’s hard to forgive the other for taking God’s Will into his own hands and not let Judgement day handle this. I don’t recall tye Bible, I’m 65, stating murder all serial predators and those who have committed sex crimes. From flahsers to multi victims we never hope for The Worst, thanks JB for sharing this sad sad story that Vigilantes take on and for the truely sad loss of another Registrant, like me. I have been afraid and in fear everytime a windiw breaks or even the doorbell or knocks at pur door, you never know someone’s intentions visiting, yes paranoid I am after and before Franks incident w the sledgehammer man. Always keep “vigilant” and watch how you present yourself i thought being thos being LGBTQIA was bad enough, sorry MW

This is unbelievably horrendous. This story and others like it are evidence that the registry poses a danger to anyone listed. Studies have shown that the reoffense rate for persons on a registry is minimal. But the threat to their safety is high.

If this crime happen to anybody else we would have public out cry and all law make vowing to intoduce a new bill to never let this happen again.

Well we all saw what happened to Charlie Kirk.
Being publicly listed differently pants a target on your back. I remember back in 2010 in Colton CA when I was confronted after dropping my son off at the bus stop, 5 gang bangers from east side Colton told me they didn’t wanna see me and my kids at the pool anymore and I had 2 weeks to move out of their neighborhood, the crazy part is one of the guys mom was the manager of the building we were staying at, I think she told them something but I’m not sure they could’ve found out on there own.
I was young and crazy at the time so I was always ready but I don’t know if I would’ve been safe if I was in my 70s I would’ve been sitting duck

Oh my goodness, my heart is broken for Mr. Brimmer. I could not control my tears. This story hit so very hard right now. We are currently under attack as well. We had a shooting at one of our homes, and thankfully, only one client was shot in the bottom portion of his leg and is good now. But the articles are out there targeting our houses, showing pictures of our clients from their Megan’s Law photos, and the hate is overwhelming. The news has caught on, too, and the target just feels so big on our backs right now. I am scared for our clients and their safety. Whatever we can do to change this law, we are in 1000%, and we will be there to advocate and stand strong with all of you. Keep our non-profit in prayers, please, Centers For Living in Fresno, CA. I will continue to pray for all of you out there, and that in our lifetime, we see a change. I am still in disbelief about the article I read about Mr. Brimmer… hunted down like some type of animal. It’s inhumane, and I pray it STOPS!

Sickening. All legislators and all judges who do not actively oppose the registry have blood on their hands.

Terrifying and so unnecessary. Has the perpetrator been arrested?

Unlike Price Club, a registrant can’t cancel his membership.

This is very sad news and frightening at the same time. One can only hope that the powers that be see the insanity of the Megan’s website.
Rest in Peace David Brimmer.

I believe Megan’s Law can be overly harsh for individuals who have been released from prison. Sex offense registries may put these individuals at risk of being targeted by others, causing constant fear and hypervigilance. In my opinion, the law is currently too severe, and access to such registries should be limited to law enforcement agencies, such as the police and FBI, rather than the general public.

janice your organization needs to push more hard than ever before for an off ramp for citizens. Better yet , we , as a community, need to up the Annie on our lobbying partners to push harder in Sacramento for huge change in the magans law in California. There needs to be an off ramp . Better yet , we need to initiate reversal in smith vs doe asap !

I think ACSOL should try to use all of its resources to get the public registry taken down via some sort of emergency measure, etc. With all of the political B.S. going on now, this kind of crap is only going to get worse!

People, as well as the government, already know it’s a hitlist. Come now. Even the half-wit among us know they weren’t born 3 days ago.

They’ll use the cheesy “meant to protect children” frail logic each time to dance around (in otherwords, circumvent) USA law prohibiting “cruel and unusual punishment”

Author’s NoteThis bill is drafted to promote peaceful communities and ensure a more equally manageable law enforcement structure. If one law mandates that a caste, race, or ethnic group must drive 65, then all citizens must drive 65. No law shall target or exclude based on classification. Universal application is the foundation of lawful governance.
Coalition Memorandum: Restoration, Reform, and Constitutional IntegrityIn response to escalating harm perpetuated by caste-based legislation, residual registries, and public classification systems, this memorandum outlines a survivor-led framework for constitutional restoration and civil order. The proposed bill and amendment clauses assert that no human—singular or collective—shall be subject to laws designed for a specific caste, group, or race. Any deviation from universal law shall constitute constitutional treason, with charges applicable to all responsible jurisdictions.
To ensure lawful governance, the principle of Jurisdictional Law Integrity is affirmed: any law or set of laws enacted within a jurisdiction must apply equally to all citizens of that jurisdiction to be considered valid. Selective enforcement or classification-based exclusions shall render such laws unconstitutional and subject to review.
Upon completion of any sentence, all constitutional rights and amendments shall be fully restored, and conviction records sealed from public access. Authorized law enforcement may access such records solely for investigative purposes. This framework is designed to reduce incarceration rates, preserve community peace, protect survivors from retaliatory harm, and establish lawful pathways for reform. Survivor oversight, formatting integrity, and jurisdictional disclaimers are embedded throughout.

Sorry to hear this.prayers for Mr. Brimmer’s family. I saw someone post about suing the government and they ay they couldn’t because Smith vs doe. Well that case wasn’t about a public registry was it? That was a law enforcement only registry. Big difference there. And that difference is what led to this murder.i would pursue it. The person didn’t go to the courthouse archive to retrieve records. They went to the website.

And that’s just it, isn’t it? There is absolutely zero public outrage when something like this happens, only celebration, high fives and “one less to worry about” uttered under breath.

It also exposes another silent truth – victim culture in America is one-sided!

He will be a hero in jail ,, !

You should’ve said “A hitlist.” When you use the term vigilante, you are validating what they do, and you’re describing them in righteous terms. They’re animals, plain and simple.
