RUSHVILLE — A former security guard and therapy aide at a center for the treatment of sexual offenders has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for disseminating child sexual abuse material.
Billy R. _____, 45, of Rushville was arrested in March on two counts of dissemination of child pornography and 10 counts of possession of child pornography.
Billy pleaded guilty Monday in Schuyler Circuit Court to the two felony counts of dissemination of child pornography and the remaining 10 counts were dismissed, according to court records. The dissemination charges are both Class X felonies, the most serious classification of crime in Illinois except for first-degree murder. Each count could have drawn 30 years in prison.
Judge Mark Vincent sentenced Billy to 10 years on each count, followed by three years of mandatory supervised release. Billy will be credited with 242 days already served.
At the time of his arrest, Billy worked at the Department of Human Services’ Rushville Treatment and Detention Facility. The facility houses more than 500 violent sexual offenders who have served prison sentences but remain in state custody because they are considered a danger to society.
