BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – La. Attorney General Liz Murrill announced that 60 registered sex offenders were arrested as part of a major internet sex crimes operation in the greater Baton Rouge area.
Details about “Operation Restricted Domain” were released during a news conference on Monday morning, May 18.
According to Murrill’s office, “Operation Restricted Domain” is a two-month, multi-agency operation led by her Louisiana Bureau of Investigation targeting offenders who violated Louisiana sex offender registration laws and engaged in unlawful online activity.

Did any of these registrants engage in misconduct with minors or for simply having social media in order to function in 2026? Gee are lawmakers stuck in the 1800s with 8 by 8s stuck up their butts. Another operation that didn’t prevent or solve a crime, but another example of the registry being a failure, waste of resources, and a crap tool for society. How many of these registrants will actually be sent to prison just for having a social media account and what is the logic in throwing them in prison for 5 plus years or whatever the statue is in the Pelican State?
Looking at the accompanying document, the vast majority of charges are simply, “Unlawful use of a social networking website,” meaning the police had NOT observed them using social media to communicate with a minor or share illegal material. Apparently in Louisiana it’s illegal for PFRs to have social media accounts–which is an unconstitutional violation of the first amendment. Furthermore, they are being labelled by the Attorney General as actively committing crimes: “Operation Restricted Domain was a major success and sends a clear message: there are no safe havens in Louisiana for those who prey on children. We will find you, we will arrest you, and we will bring you to justice,” said Murrill.” There is NO evidence the vast majority of these men were using social media to commit a crime, they were likely using it for the same reasons all Americans do (keeping in contact with family, getting information about local events and elections, buying or selling things). This Attorney General is a criminal.
