The heads of a South Carolina church allowed a sex offender to work around kids – and were arrested after their furious congregation found out.
Leaders at Pawleys Island Community Church said they were well aware of the criminal background of Warren Spence Perry, 70, when they allowed him to start volunteering.
Perry had been convicted in 2023 for a sex crime involving a minor three years prior and was required to avoid being in proximity to children as a condition of his parole, records show.

But church leaders still decided to allow Perry to volunteer at the house of worship, saying they believed that he’d been following the conditions of his parole under “strict supervision,” News 13 reported.
Parents of children who participated in youth education at the church were uninformed about Perry’s perverted past – but soon found out after two tipsters alerted local cops that the sex offender was working as a custodian at a school run by the church,…

There once was a man in question who was trying to rebuild his life. He went to a church in Any Town, USA, and the church’s pastor said, “Repent, repent! Our congregation would love to help someone seeking redemption.” This is exactly what a church is supposed to do. Offering support to people who have made mistakes is part of the mission that justifies tax‑exempt status: serving the public good, providing sanctuary, and demonstrating compassion for all who need it.
But when members of a congregation respond to that mission with frivolous lawsuits — abound by the devil — especially when no actual harm was ever reported to anyone or anything, it raises serious questions about what values they truly hold. Have they spoken and congregated with forked tongues all along, using the church for free advertisements, business leverage, and political gain? A church is meant to be a place of healing, not a battleground for financial profit.
If people choose litigation over understanding, and money over mercy, it suggests their motivations are rooted in profit rather than faith. “Lo, you come forth to me,” they say, “and I will be your shepherd,” as long as the flock fills their pockets. Line up, they say, as the seats fill fast down here.
Those who exploit a church for personal financial benefit undermine the very institution they claim to belong to. If individuals are driven by greed rather than genuine concern, then stepping aside will be the best path forward so the church can try to return to its true purpose: helping people, restoring lives, and practicing the compassion it preaches.

The Bible shouldn’t be used to cherry pick scripture you agree with since we are all sinners and shouldn’t judge others based on their past. What’s the point of going to church if one thinks every sin can be forgiven except for sex crimes? Maybe these Karens and Darrens can start a church for chicken littles with pea brains, narrow worldviews, and have a lot shoved up their rears believing they are better than others. I better these holy rollers have more skeletons in their closets than the surrounding cemeteries.
