NV: Child Sex Offender Given 435 Years in Prison

The Honorable Egan Walker has sentenced David Moreno to life in prison, with parole eligibility in 435 years. Moreno was previously found guilty of 11 counts of Sexual Assault on a Child Under 14, four counts of Lewdness with a Child Under 14, one count of Attempted Sexual Assault on a Child Under 14, one count of Child Neglect, one count of Incest, and one count of Dissuading a Witness.

The case against Moreno began when one of his victims, who was known to him, disclosed that the defendant had repeatedly sexually assaulted her when she was a child. During the investigation, a second victim was also discovered.

435 years I had no idea people lived that long. Is Nevada taking notes from Florida, Ohio, Texas, and other states with extremely long non-mortal sentences? Again another example of someone known to the victims committing a sex offense, so why are resources wasted on the registry? The registry failed to prevent or solve a sex crime, but keep rolling the dice that the registry will continue being a useful tool to keep kids safe. Keep thinking the House wins ( registry) while it fails each and every day since it’s conception.
