Please don’t knock it, until you’ve tried it. You can also do house arrest for $40 a day.

Although I spent my limited time in an open unfenced campus facility nicknamed “camp snoopy” (lol), I would have loved to of spent my time at this paid facility if I had known that was an option. Although I’m not complaining since I was able to leave my jail facility with an employee and purchase fast food and any other supplies I wanted. I even was able to pay for pizza party’s for the population of 50-100 inmates. If you get in trouble in Santa Cruz County, try your best to be allowed to serve your jail time at “the Farm” rehabilitation center in Watsonville. They offer a High School GED and food service training, automotive training and computer training. No matter where you do your time, always try for a food service job, you will eat very well and the health department requires them to provide you with clean cloths on a daily basis. Sundays were great since that was visitation day and visitors could sneak in goodies for us that wasn’t otherwise available in the canteen. You could easily escape if you just wanted to head south of the border forever (many did, just don’t get caught and end up in max security).

I spent my time at Seal Beach and was allowed work furlough. My lawyer had originally said I would be able to do weekend work crew type stuff. But he forgot to check if a RSO could do that, which you can’t. I had to go back to the juymyself to request pay to stay so I could keep my job. It was a good place, pretty clean and safe.

How bad are sex offenders treated in county jail? My husband will be spending six months in county jail on a sexual battery charge. I am afraid for his safety.
