‘Mike Lee wants to deliver a death knell to PornHub.
Last year, the rightwing think-tank the Heritage Foundation launched Project 2025, which laid out much of the policy blueprint for the current Trump administration. One of the project’s espoused goals was to permanently criminalize all pornography. Now, a Republican senator with kind words for Trump has introduced a bill that would do just that.
Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) recently introduced the Interstate Obscenity Definition Act (IODA), which would effectively criminalize all pornography nationwide by legally redefining what it means to be obscene. For years, “obscenity” has been all but a defunct legal category that narrowly defines speech that remains unprotected by the First Amendment. Lee would explode this legal category, expanding it to encompass virtually all visual representations of sex.
According to the bill text, “a picture, image, graphic image file, film, videotape, or other visual depiction” of any media that “appeals to the prurient interest in nudity, sex, or excretion” would be considered criminal.

When the f*** are we going to get rid of all these nut jobs in politics ? Are we going to get a loser to introduce a bill that masturbation is illegal ? how about breathing air ? Why are people keeping these losers in office ? what a waste of time and money.
Non-stop attack on 1st amendment rights. Here is another example of stomping of 1st amendment rights…in one small city in Texas, the city council requires all registered people living within the city to place a permanent sign in the front yard with readable font letting everyone know they are a [derogitory label] as the government forces one to speak the message of the government even if the person disagrees with the message.
Mr. Constitution in my pocket while debating wants to ban all porn. Senator Lee should stay in Utah and buzz around in that state and leave the rest of us alone.
Sure, why not just suddenly criminalize what has been a completely natural behavior since our species first started painting erotic depictions on cave walls. (Slow clap) bravo, brilliant. And the best part is, as things are now, this puritanical nonsense actually has a very strong chance of becoming a reality in the not too distant future, because (apparently) if there’s one thing
KarensAmericans absolutely despise with ever fiber of their being, it’s pornography.Well this won’t pass the Supreme Court muster.
I dunno it might be kinda interesting to see 200 million people suddenly added to the registry.
Well, that would most certainly open up a LOT of bandwidth! 🤣🤣🤣Considering porn is the #1 most searched item on the internet. Then realize that this would likely cover magazines, strip joints and anything else that these puritans deemed “ unclean “. Imagine Hollywood not being able to show any skin. The classic 1979 anti war movie ‘Hair’ would suddenly be considered obscene. Sophia Vergara would have to wear a turtleneck!
I’m sure Mr. Lee made sure cancel his MEN.com subscription before introducing this.
Most of the GOP would be charged with a crime, so they should be careful who they support because it will come back to bite them. Senator Lee needs to mind his own business and spend more time reading the Constitution he claims to love.
This is just part of their misguided reasoning and flawed ideological bet of making people stop viewing and start “doing” to bump up the low-birth rates. Oh,, and they want rich white people to have kids so they can be indoctrinated successors to this legacy of elitism and targeted hatred of others that are different.
People like Mike Lee using scripture to dupe the masses is nothing new.
Banning all forms of contraception is next.
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson wouldn’t need his teenage son to be his accountable partner, Senator Cruz wouldn’t get any updates on characters sex lives, and Senator Graham wouldn’t get any more of his Playgirl or Men in Drag issues.
Pornography will never be wiped out in this current world, and there are definite problems with it.
#1 It cheapens the act of intimacy into lustful, non-virtuous acts oftentimes with multiple partners with no regard to fidelity or actual love.
#2 It is NOT art! Qualifying it as art is just a means of rationalization for the multi-billion dollar revenue it makes each year which surpasses even what than the NFL brings in. Art doesn’t have an age restriction. otherwise parents could let their children watch it and it could be viewd in the schools for educational purposes.
#3 Some people have real problems with psychological addiction to it and are in need of treatment or going through treatment because they can’t stop watching it..
#4 It is influential.,and because of this it has corrupted many of the minds of people to perform unnatural and even unlawful sex acts they never would have performed had they not got involved with pornongraphy. I would give odds that there are readers on this website who have been influenced by it.
R***blicans Want To Redefine Obscenity (Reason.com 12 May 2025) A new bill would ban sharing visual content that might “arouse” or “titillate.”
The Sen wants to ban what is so underground in his religious affiliation and very pervasive. It is his view or no view. There is a companion bill in the House. (Read the article on that because they have not IODA of a clue either.) The reach of this could include text message content.
Wait till naked newborns coming into is considered a felony. How dare a child come into the world butt naked? Honestly I can see this happening in this country.
Very interesting
The only good that might come out of this is some female cyber detective won’t be destroying people’s lives by sifting thru pictures on a computer to decide what’s a child, and what isn’t. Basically everything would be illegal, and the outrageous penalities for cp might fall closer in line with adult porn.
I can see Chastity belts making a big fashion comeback! 🤣🤣🤣. We will be left watching ‘Bluechew’ commercials! 😎😁🤫
Considering the history of Mormons marrying and impregnating multiple girls as young as 12 yrs old, ironic that a Mormon senator would find the need to go this far.
This Bill isn’t really about scripture, morality, or even decency. It is really about control of the mass’s behavior to direct it in a way that the elites want. Meanwhile they enjoy porn themselves without restraint. Double standard.
Crap I can’t listen to ” Hot for Teacher”, ” I’m too Sexy”, ” Baby Got Back”, ” Sexual” and the other songs with sex or intimacy anymore.
I wish the United States were free from politicians who are ” small government” types, while they promote bills and laws that make big government reality.
I wonder if Lee realizes how much free porn is on Musk’s ‘X’ platform. He could sink the guy that is keeping him in office!

Dr. Rena Malik, M.D. Is Porn Really Ruining Your Life? Here’s What Science Says
As of now this bill is getting backlash, so the take away is you make porn illegal and you’ll strike a nerve in Americans. I hope you are feeling some heat Mr. Constitution in my pocket Lee.
And to think this dude’s name has come up more than once as a possible SCOTUS Justice when another vacancy comes.
Do you get arrested for staring too long at cave drawings? Are anatomy classes going to be taken out of Medical school curriculum? Can I still donate sperm without being put in jail? I wonder how long it’s been since Lee touched himself in “ that way”……..🤣🤣🤣🤣
