This perfectly illustrates the punitive effect of registration. When are courts going to finally start recognizing such a glaringly obvious truth and call registration what it is? – punishment! It should not matter one bit that the intent of the legislators was not punitive in nature when the overarching effect of registration is nothing but punitive in nature – when study after study shows that the existence of the registry has not had any effect on sexual offense rates or preventing sexual crimes, what else is left but to call it punishment?
No doubt, some a-hole held out on voting for the Small Business Jobs Act unless it included a provision to exclude child SOs. You can’t get a job or create a job.
This steaming pile of BS has got one nasty slippery slope to it.
I once thought America was the land of oportunity, were someone can leave behind the past and remake themselves by working hard and obeying the Golden Rule. Now I think this country is re-creating a society of haves and have nots, in essence a caste system, because if I can’t make a decent living for my childten, they too will be disadvantaged.
