Another Ex Post Facto law. They are tearing the constitution to shreds. One has to be careful as the freedoms they are trashing might be one they need in the future. We can not continue tok take the foundation of our country apart and expect the country to stand.

So, after years of published statistics proving this system is unreliable, dangerous and ineffective at preventing abuse, legislators in Virginia want to now add more people to it…

People need to be asking who’s interest does this serve by continuing to expand the program, because it certainly isn’t the interest of public safety.

Seems to me these type of laws have already been successfully challenged and ruled unconstitutional. A federal law suite against the state of VA. can be filed without much concern of it not being won. These legislators are asking for liability. Lets give it to them. Seems like a slam-dunk. I can’t even see a political win out of this one.

As we all know, polititions love to be able to state they are tough on crime even if their attempted laws don’t pass. I suspect even they know their ex post facto bill is unconstitutional and won’t hold up under a constitutional challenge, but at least they can tell their constituants that they did their best to “save one more child”.

I wonder how they can go back to research cases from the 1980’s? Most court houses destroy files after so many years. Most courts didn’t have computer records back then either. It would seem very challenging and expensive to locate files that old. I would imagine many people could be mis-identified in this process causing a lot of grief and costly law suits.
