County wants local control back to govern sex offenders

SAN BERNARDINO — The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors is pressing for control to govern how it deals with registered sex offenders after it voted this week to repeal its own ordinance and give precedence to California law.

“The Board knows how to protect the most vulnerable people in our society,” Board Chairman James Ramos said in a statement. “We want to return control back to local jurisdictions.” Full Article

Its kind of conceded that they think they know better than the state about how to “protect” children. But we should expect that as we push forward for our constitutional rights, they will do their best to push back. However in these days of budget cuts, I doubt they have the funds to fight for the unconstitutional changes they want.

In my opinion, giving “Control” back to the Local Government is tantamount to giving ISIS a Nuclear Weapon. You know they won’t wait to use it to exploit their belief’s upon any and all who refuse to bow down to them!
Scenario: Somewhere in this Country, a small County Government is controlled by a few individuals with goals of running it in their Local “Best” interests. Maybe the City of Vernon can be used as an example? So the Vernon City father’s pass “Local” ordinances giving “them Local control” and flipping the bird to the State and Federal government’s laws. Well they reason, “We know what our Constituents want, We know what is best for our Local communities, so We pass these Local Ordinances: It shall be illegal to believe in any Religion but ours; Illegal To Support Gender Equality; Illegal to Accept Gay and Lesbian Rights; We Ban Single Parent families; Illegal to own more than one firearm; Illegal to drive a Ford; Illegal to smoke marijuana in the privacy of your own home; Illegal to support the Democratic Party; Illegal to wear pink shirts on Tuesday’s; etc, etc…
I know, I’m being ridiculous and absurd, no Local government would ever pass a law we all couldn’t support. RIGHT!
That’s why we have to answer to a greater authority. One with oversight to ensure that our Inalienable Rights are Not abused by Local authorities.
Ramos and the rest are Politicians, and it makes a great sound bite to say we want Local Control and we’re having Counsel pursue passing a State Initiative to do so. That’s rhetoric for come election time, “Please remember, I didn’t vote for RSO’s Human and Civil Rights. I’m a Big supporter of Law Enforcement and Your Protection, Not Criminals’!”
But hey, I’m only a 65 year old man who has participated in our Political system, and seen first hand how money begets power, which promotes abuse. Political ambition is a great thing when used for the good of the people, but the power from success is intoxicating, which is why there must be oversight, controls, and accountability.

In My opinion. Steve W.

Will never happen San Berdo. Just take your lickin’ put on you by Janice and like it. Move on.
