Think I already told the story of this year’s Virginia House Bill 1366, in a previous CA RSOL post about 2 months ago. Anyway, this article is all about that Bill, and its sole purpose to make it drastically harder for a registered parent to be with his kid at school functions.
I don’t think for California it will become so drastic; paying for a two week newspaper ad, then a court hearing. This is just another example of a State (Virginia) that doesn’t have enough people to fight. Mary Devoy cannot do it there if she doesn’t get more help.
Thank you for all you Californians who went to Carson and Sacktown to fight !!
School administrators who do not consider the emotional well being of children of registrants put the children of the registrant and the entire family in a harmful and compromising position. This is institutionalized child abuse.
As long these laws are continually forced in without thoughtful and compassionate treatment of the children of registrants, these awkward situations will continue to manifest in disastrous ways for innocent children that deserve better than the by products of hateful, shallow and reactive legislation.
In many cases the school administrators are just as guilty of unnecessarily harming children of registrants with fear, hyperbole and superstition which immediately creates a nexus for the bullying of the children of registrants – both explicitly and implicitly.
Until some sensible policies that do not by default victimize children of registrants are put into place and ENFORCED, the blame and the shame should fall squarely on the shoulders of the sick zealous lawmakers that push these hate based laws into a very dicey application with far too many times their own political aspirations driving them.
Don’t hold your breath for compassion for children of registrants. It is not in the credo of hate mongering lawmakers. But advocate for change and to root out these careless politicians as the harm they do it not limited to registrants but to all citizens who inherently deserve the protections that the US Constitution provides – or is supposed to.
Well, let’s be real. A decade! He clearly has moved on. I can see if he committed numerous other crimes ect, but he has paid his debt to society and changed his life. When the registration first came out, going down to the police station was bad enough! Now, the legislators keep trying to tack things on. When I made my mistake, I was under the impression you pay your debt to society and move on. Move on!
