A marquee policy initiative of Gov. Terry McAuliffe took center stage in the Virginia governor’s race Monday as Republican Ed Gillespie attacked McAuliffe’s approach to felon rights restoration as charitable to the point of being dangerous and Democrat Ralph Northam pushed back by saying Gillespie should be “ashamed” over his “fearmongering campaign.”
The Gillespie campaign rolled out an ad Monday highlighting the case of a sex offender whose rights were restored late last year, months after he was arrested for having a massive child pornography stash. Gillespie said the case of John Martin Bowen of Accomack County illustrates the flaws in McAuliffe’s expansive approach to rights restoration with minimal screening of individual cases. Colorado Judge Matsch was correct in stating that registrants aren’t getting a fair shake as they’re being propped up as political pawns as opposed to who they are. Registrants are being ostracized by the public. This is a shining example of the cruel and unusual punishment laid upon being registered.
The public does not want registrants to be re-integrated into society as they have stigmatized the nation that all sex offenders are monsters.
And they say we’re a non partisan issue haha. Proves them wrong right there.
People call us scum for what we did (and what we did was absolutely wrong), but what does it say about our politicians who purposely use wrong information and spread fear and lies, making millions and millions of peoples lives worse, often times the very victims they claim to want to protect, all for personal and political gain?
prrpetual disenfranchisment of releasef felons??Sure seems like a major fundamental liberties violation of a keystone liberty interest so ingrained in our constitution that it is a threat to the very order of liberty and justice in our country. Taxation without representation is exactly what our forefathers waged war against, that and our rights to access OUR courts for a fair and just redress against a tyrannical government. These are the two main foundational guarantees to ordered liberty….

Demagoguery is an appeal to people that plays on their emotions and prejudices rather than on their rational side. Demagoguery is a manipulative approach — often associated with dictators and sleazy politicians — that appeals to the worst nature of people.
A lot of people call Trump a demagogue, which may be true, but this word applies to almost everyone of these law makers, at all levels…
