AL: Governor ceremonially signs juvenile sex offender bill

[ 5/21/18]

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) – Monday, Gov. Kay Ivey put her signature on a score of legislation. Although the signing was just for the camera (the laws were already signed in private about a month ago), it still had a special meaning for the Cook family.

“Amazing, it was the biggest blessing for us to experience this today,” Kristina Cook said.

Ivey put her signature on a bill that will require each school district to come up with rules on how to deal with juvenile sex offenders. The bill came after the Cooks’ first grade daughter was sexually assaulted by an eighth grader. The eighth grader was convicted of a sex crime, but, according to the Cooks, was back in class one year later without much oversight, because of a lack of school district policy.

We have to ruin children’s futures to save just one child. Totally makes sense.

  2. Bill

Alabama is a R.I.N.O. ( Republican In Name Only ) state and is more blue than red.

Baloney. Not only are most of the inhabitants true red (except for maybe in Jefferson county), they are also religious nut job fundamentalists, which is really their main problem. AL is the most backward state in the union, save MS.
