AZ: Maricopa Police Department to re-mail residents notifications of 52 sex offenders

Source: inmaricopa.com 6/5/23

Maricopa Police Department announced residents may find sex offender notifications in their mailbox later this month.

In a press release issued Friday, MPD said it will re-release these notifications through June following an internal audit of offender registration notifications.

State law requires these notices be sent to residents living within 700 feet of an offender within 48 hours of their registration or change of address. However, MPD said it will send notifications again following the audit. The department stressed the people listed in the notifications are not necessarily new residents or the result of new crimes.

“We urge residents to carefully review this important information and take necessary precautions to ensure personal safety and the well-being of loved ones,” the release read.

And the witch hunt continues

Arizona’s too hot to live in anyway. Even with air conditioning the heat still fries your brain. That’s why the people out there are so crazy lol.

Crazy because a lot of people are moving out of California for a better and more affordable life, while PFR are TRAPPED here by “SB384” “mandatory minimum waiting period” and the fear of even harsher sex offender laws in different states.
Yeah we all have the freedom to just up and leave anytime we want to, we just gotta make sure we make it to our destination before 3 working days, to avoid triggering A nationwide manhunt by US marshals.
I was thinking about leaving too BUT after reading articles like this all throughout the United States
I think I’m good right here in California

Someone please remind me why these Registrants’ neighbors can’t simply check the Megan’s Law website if they’re concerned about local registrants??
(I guess the auditor found the MPD to be “non-compliant” with sex offender requirements.)

If I were there, I would be mailing letters to people telling them where all the cops lived. Nothing illegal about that.

Gotta love the one comment where someone says there’s no rehabilitation for “sex offenders.”

How many masters do this state’s offenders serve?

What’s the purpose of re-sending out notifications not for new residents or crimes? Sounds like another form of harassing registrants and their families as a result of departments run by Boss Hog wannabees.

Wow.. turns out the registry is actually a political, reelection campaign tool and NOT a public safety tool.

Who knew?

We all did!
