The CA Senate Public Safety Committee is scheduled to conduct a hearing April 8 regarding Senate Bill 680 that could add up to 30,000 people to the registry!
“We must stop this bill in order to prevent the addition of thousands of people to the California registry,” stated ACSOL Executive Director Janice Bellucci. “A similar bill (Senate Bill 1218) was introduced last year and ACSOL as well as other organizations were able to stop it due to our strong opposition.”
(1) SEND A LETTER:
Please send a letter ASAP because letters regarding the bill must be received by the committee no later than April 1, 2025.
Send your letter to:
Chairman Jesse Arreguin
Vice Chairman Kelly Seyarto
Senate Committee on Public Safety
1020 N St. Room 545
Sacramento, CA 95814
At the bottom of this article is a link to that letter ACSOL sent a letter of opposition to Senate Bill 680 earlier this month. You can use it to help write a letter in your own wording.
(2) MAKE CALLS:
Due to the short time between now and the date of the Senate hearing, a more effective way to communicate opposition to Senate Bill 680 is through phone calls to six members of the Senate Public Safety Committee. When you call, say you want to comment on a bill. The staff member just wants to know that you oppose Senate Bill 680, your name and city/ZIP:
Jesse Arreguin, Chairman, (916) 651-4007
Kelly Seyarto, Vice Chairman, (916) 651-4032
Anna Caballero, (916) 651-4014
Lena Gonzalez, (916) 651-4033
Sasha Perez, (916) 651-4025
Scott Weiner, (916) 651-4011
(3) SHOW UP:
Please show up to oppose this terrible bill! The hearing will be held Tuesday, April 8, starting at 9:30 a.m. in:
The legislative office building
The legislative office building
1021 O Street
Room 2200.
Sacramento

ACSOL staff will be there to explain what to do. It’s easy! We just say our name, city, and that we oppose this bill. That really does make a difference! Nobody used to oppose these bad bills, and we helped to stop them!

This is great information with clear instructions on how people can support your cause. Thank you for the work that you do.
I just called all six numbers. Everybody is very friendly, and it literally takes a second. Not intimidating at all.
Thank you, Janice.
Making the calls to six senators took me less than 5 minutes! The phone is answered after the first ring. Just give your name and zip code and that you oppose SB 680. EASY!
All of these attempts to add people that have never been forced to Register before just points out the uselessness and vindictiveness of the Pogrom!
The kind of person that snatches kids off the street… particularly more then once… doesn’t blend into society seamlessly. These kinds of people are noticable in a wide variety of ways!
* Lack of empathy
* Total disregard for the rights of others
* Distain for the law
* Contempt for social mores
* Willingness to take extreme risks
* Using others as objects
* Willingness to get what they want regardless of how that may impact others
People like that stick out. While not everyone will display these traits all the time, they will pop up under multiple kinds of circumstances, not just one. Sociopath isn’t just a nights and weekends hobby.
Compulsives get caught. Their compulsive needs drive them to the kind of recklessness that gets them caught. People that remain compulsive, remain reckless, and get caught again.
“Groomers” build their lives around constructed opportunities to groom without drawing attention… like teachers. Interestingly, retired teachers/clergy seldom continue to abuse. Take them out of their opportunity zones, they usually stop trying.
If we compare the people they want to add to the Pogrom to people that actually have committed multiple SO with multiple victims… few will bear any similarities? If we compare the people they want to add to people that continued to abuse after getting caught once… no meaningful similarities at all?
So who are they attempting to Register? Secret Sex Witches that commit Invisible Blood Libels perhaps? Dr. Jekyll’s secret friend? Which kind of “Hidden in plain sight boogyman” fantasy are they going after now?
I called all of them. Interestingly enough, Sen. Arreguin’s office did not want my city and zip. Sen. Seyarto’s office did not want my name. 🤔
Just finished calling. I also pointed out that my lower middle class neighborhood — mostly young, POC and first–time homebuyers — is already awash in a sea of red dots, and likened the cluster to environmental racism. That got them thinking.
I made the calls in just a few minutes since all they wanted to know was: SB680, opposed, my name, my city or zip.
The short letter was also easy to write, since it was mainly my focusing on how law enforcement wanted the tiered registry to take a huge load off their registration process paperwork and be able to focus on serious crimes.
A small effort on our part has some big advantages: we will have a huge impact on killing this nasty bill, we will build our reputation of getting things done, we will have allowed the registry to keep shrinking, and we will save suffering for tens of thousands.
Thanks for taking action!
Let’s see…..30,000 times an average of registration two times a year at $25 each time= $1,500,000.00! Not too shabby of an increase.
Thank you everyone for taking action so quickly! Sharing your experiences is sure to motivate others.
Great work CA PFRs and loved ones!
Hello friends,
A snail mail letter is by far the best, but in hope to get as much support as possible, here is this committee’s email address if you aren’t up to sending a traditional letter. Include the following and your message will be shared with these members:
Attention: Senator Jesse Arreguín, Senator Kelly Seyarto, Senator Anna Caballero, Senator Lena Gonzalez, Senator Sasha Renée Pérez, Senator Scott Wiener
TIP: Not the best at writing letters? Or good at writing but lazy like me? Guess who’s not lazy? Chat-GPT. cut and paste Janice’s letter into Chat GPT, and prompt it to reword the letter. If there’s something specific you want to say, just include it in your prompt.
spsf@sen.ca.gov
Called twice and gave name, city, and zip. Also pointed out the purpose is to lessen registration, not retro punish. Also sending letters and just dropped off for Saturday pickup.
I commented more than 3 yrs ago that once the tiered system was fully enacted, PFRs were removed and a source of state LE funding was reduced, both legislators and LE would set out to circumvent it by creating new laws to ensnare previously non registered individuals by making them tier 3 registrants. I have unfortunately been proven correct.
