  • In a statement issued to PEOPLE on July 25, the Owasso Police Department confirmed that his alleged crime — “Lewd Molestation of a Minor” — had been turned over to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for review

The Owasso Police Department (OPD) has issued a statement about the ongoing investigation into the death of Sara Gilson.

PEOPLE previously confirmed that Gilson, 43, was shot by her estranged husband, Jeremiah “Shawn” Duffey, 48, who then fatally shot himself. Police discovered both individuals dead with gunshot wounds in Gilson’s home in Owasso, Okla., at around 11:15 p.m. local time on July 23. A child living at the home made the 911 call that alerted authorities.
