This should tell you something about how meaningless and capricious the “sex offender” label is: Zach Anderson, the Elkhart, Indiana, 19-year-old labeled a sex offender for having consensual sex with a girl who said she was 17 (but turned out to be 14), has had his sentence vacated. That means it’s as if his case had never been tried. It will be heard anew by a different judge. Full Article

As usual, another awesome op-ed by Lenore Skenazy.
This judge should be removed from the bench and disbarred along with the prosecutor in this case. They are the true predators!
Thank God!! Thank God!! A clear and rational voice!!
(I only wish: 1. Millions more became so enlightened, and 2. there were a “Comments” section so we could see the responses to this op/ed piece.)
This article by Lenore Skenazy needs to be in the NY times and the LA Times. She quite correctly points out the judges bias and totally non objective consideration. In fact the judge ruled based on his personal view and opinion. I wonder how he thought going way overboard and totally destroying this kids life before it really began could be considered justice or how his ruling could be considered any kind of good or right. Thank God his ruling did not stand. I hope the other young boys/men mentioned in the article can use this new twist in this story to their advantage.
The bottom line is the registry needs to be removed, completely. Neither, the public, the media, LE or the judicial are mature enough to use it, properly.
