CA: Sex Offender Seeks Access to Son’s School to Enhance His Learning

An admitted registered sex offender is suing the Lancaster School District, alleging he is being wrongfully denied access to his child’s school and to be involved in his son’s education in defiance of the law.

The man, identified only as John Doe in the Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit filed Monday, is asking a judge to declare that the state Penal Code does not deny the plaintiff and other registrants access to school grounds for “lawful business.” Full Article

Good. I hope he wins. I’d love to be part of my nephews educational milestones but I won’t even bother approaching the schools about it since I’m not a direct guardian. I can’t see any way they’d grant me permission, especially since I’ve known several other RC’s from group who were denied entry to their children’s schools.

“A representative for the district did not immediately reply to a request for comment.”
Another useless article with limited information.

How do we follow cases like this? See the filings and whatnot.

Another DOE case? Sheesh another DOH! ruling come with it.

Nothing new. My son started school in 2014 and he’s in fourth grade now. Apple valley schools won’t let me go to any functions on campuses either. It’s standard procedure it seems like. They do what they want. I have to go to district office for meetings with teachers and principles. Can’t be apart of any school activities which sucks bad and hurts my heart for my son especially when he asks me to but nothing we can do.
