The Vallejo Police Department is temporarily modifying its sex offender registration process to include telephonic and appointment-based registrations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
New or existing registrant or a registrant required to update his/her status as a sex offender under California penal codes 290 PC and/or 457.1 PC, must update their status by calling the Vallejo Police Department’s telephonic registration line at (707) 917-4124, according to a new release from the police department.
“If you are a registrant without telephone access or who has special needs, you will be permitted to schedule an in-person appointment to register,” Vallejo Police Department spokesperson Brittany K. Jackson said. “In order to help prevent and reduce exposure to COVID-19, all registrants with in-person appointments must adhere to guidelines requiring physical distancing and the use of face masks, cloth coverings or other personal protective equipment (PPE). (Refer to City Council Emergency Order No. 20-006) The Vallejo Police Department will provide surgical face masks for those without masks.”
The expanded services come as a result of the California Department of Justice Executive Order N-63-20.
The article mentions you must register annually within 10 days of your birthday. Is the article wrong or did something change, as I thought it was within 5 business days?
“Those required to register as a sex offender pursuant to penal codes in 290 PC or 457.1 PC, must submit/renew registration status including, but not limited to any of the following circumstances:
New Registration
Annual Registration (Must Renew Annually within 10 days of Date of Birth)Transient Registration (Must Renew Every 30 Days)
New Jurisdiction, Change of Address, etc.”
What else is left considering the etc? I guess it’s just “290 PC and/or 457.1 PC” (which I don’t know what that includes)?
