LA: Vermilion Parish Sex Offenders Are Getting Scammed

Source: katc.com 1/6/22

Louisiana deputies says [sic] sex offenders are the latest target in a recent phone scam going on in the area.

In recent days, Vermilion’s Sheriffs office says scammers have been posing as deputies. They are doing so in order to get cash from registered sex offenders.

Detectives say the perpetrates search the online database for offenders, then call and threaten them with jail time. After they convince the victims, they would make them pay with gift cards and through bitcoin to avoid going to prison.

Eddie Langlinais says if you receive a call like this, be sure to have the caller identify themselves as a member of law enforcement.

“Get the person’s name that’s calling you, get their rank and then call the sheriff office. Google the sheriff’s office number, call them and ask if that person works there and if it’s legitimate.”

He also says to never give your personal information over the phone or online.

One tried to get me with this scam in CA. He failed. First sign of something wrong was the second I started asking questions, the “officer” started getting angry and aggressive…obviously thinking I would buckle and do the stupid things he demanded out of fear.

Just one more reason the registry needs to be off-line

As unanticipated by 1994 Congress & condoned by SCOTUS03 led by Rehnquist and enjoined by Scalia, O’Connor, Kennedy, Thomas etc in weighing Sex offender registration. Naturally, granting political states the power to indenture + make servants of human citizens to machine databases upkeep would lead to other collateral misuse of database infrastructure. Ultimately the people are compelled to follow leadership even when that leadership is both ignorant and plain dishonest concerning the ” intent.” Leadership in this case opted for unfettered use for states ruled by competing political entities, so why wouldn’t ” the people” follow the pattern set through the virtue signaling established in the precedent set in Smith V. Doe? Recently I found a link to a live streaming online “predator snare” being operated by vigilantes attempting to convince a man to show up at a location. They were pretending to be a minor just like law enforcement agents do sometimes, chatting the guy up and encouraging him to act. This being the natural outcome from the messages of virtue bombarding and he people’s collective psychology.
