During a recent information session, representatives of the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department said the county’s 20 Flock Safety license plate reader cameras captured some 572,370 unique license plate images over a 30-day period.

“If you’re a registered sex offender, you’re in NCIC. So every time a sex offender drives by these cameras, they go off,” Ralston said, explaining more hits are generated by sex offenders than anything else.
By way of example, he showed all the NCIC hits that officers were alerted to between July 1 and July 17.
During that time, 135 hits were sex offenders. Additionally, there were plates linked to 22 active warrants, six protection orders, six stolen plates, two stolen vehicles and one suspected gang/terrorist flagged by the system.
Ralston said that, by and large, hits from sex offenders don’t raise alarm bells unless there’s an active crime or warrant.

In the registry’s early days, they would have called the SWAT team at those alerts. Now they just ignore it. Go figure.
Wow! Just clickbait. There was nothing the PFR were doing other than driving down the road with a NCIC record. Why is that part of a headline? Why not mention the actual criminals the system tagged. Nothing but click bait.
Great, so this flock camera system with NCIC is essentially like an ankle bracelet. Doing something normal like driving will pop up an alert just because you are registered.
Seems like the registry knows no bounds about continuously stripping civil rights away.
Flock cameras can get the flock out of the United States. Heck human beings are human and not livestock to be monitored and tracked from cradle off to the slaughterhouse. Leave people the hell alone and monitor yourself as well as your actions Flock investors, tech Bros, and CEOS
Without this system, they wouldn’t know where the PFR is they state. Why do they feel they need to know where the PFR is at the moment the image is captured if there is no need to know? That is the question no one is asking these entities that rely on Flock cameras because as they state it, that is the basis of a surveillance state. If there isn’t an active need to know, then why does one need to know where anyone is regardless of who they are and what their history is? This is why states are banning and have banned license plate covers which distort or hide the license plate data. People need to start asking these hard hitting questions of those entities, e.g., LE, elected officials, HOA, etc, who employ these resources.
The really sad thing is I read the other day where Flock is getting ditched in favor of overhead drones being flown to do the same mission. The surveillance state moves from one system to another where they are working to evade those who may notice cameras on the side of the road, whether on poles or embedded in yellow safety barrels, in an effort to evade the public who pays their bills and has their constitutional rights.

Nowadays, they can track you without even leaving their desk. They’ll just send that drone to your house, or use license plate readers to track your whereabouts and your patterns. Every single airport in America is also involved in tracking people forced to register, when you buy a plane ticket or if you use your debit card out of state it notifies the FBI you’re out of state even if your removed from the registry you’re still subject to NCIC tracking.
Back in the early 2000s the registry was Hell because they didn’t have all this technology like they have now, so they did everything manually and because of the big Internet, boom and public outcry people forced to register were public enemy number one.
For me personally, when all the crazy stunts law-enforcement would pull and all there lil task forces and their surveillance tactics, slowly just stopped I knew that I was under heavy surveillance tracking and monitoring.
This new generation of people forced to register the only time they see law-enforcement is when they go in there annually or update their registration.
So when did it become a crime for a registered individual to drive a vehicle? I mean what, he or she is going to hurt a vehicle like that or is it that they are offended that he or she is simply living their lives?
Some of those flock cameras in West Virginia might be not be observing much except for flood water, but I’m sure Roscoe and Boss Hog will be on the hunt for Bo and Luke Duke.
I have 5 cars registered. I don’t own 4 of them. I imagine they’ll be allocating resources to tracking non rsos.

I live in WV and there were many protests when these cameras were installed. Several folks have been arrested for vandalizing them. (thankfully they weren’t PFR’s). The cameras read the plate, but don’t tell anyone who was driving the vehicle. It could be anyone, friend, family member etc. All the camera knows is that a registrant listed it as a vehicle they drive at some point.
According to Car Coach Reports on Youtube school buses are taking pictures of license plates.

Seems like they’re a 1984 surveillance mission creep that is actually a flawed safety tool. People are having to hire a lawyer to prove their innocence when they’re flagged by mistake! Next their excuse will be “it’s not perfect, it’s all we have.” Just like they do with the registry.

An ALPR reader alerted to a stolen vehicle, the police pulled over the adult driver and 3 kids who all were laid prone and some handcuffed. The plate was the correct number but from a different state and wasn’t an SUV but a motorcycle. FTUSA

In the end, the CEO recognizes that technology is neither good or evil, it is the user who is using the technology. Therefore, those law enforcement who use it for inappropriate means are not going to be able to do so so much anymore with these changes. Though, I would imagine the population still won’t want them around due to perception and because the temptation great.

A reporter found these during investigative work. Again, despite the knowledge to not do this and express acknowledgement in the system it needs to be official work related business when using the system, people will do what they want in these systems. Will these LEOs be put on the bad LE nationwide list?
So, keep your cameras parked to watch parks where you probably make jokes at the people you see in the images are who are not PFRs because at least then you are not tracking someone you shouldn’t be. Just stop using baseless scare tactics to do it.

Isn’t forcing the license plate of the person who has registered the vehicle to be displayed compelled speech and a violation of 1A? We don’t force the DL of the person driving the vehicle to be displayed at all times the person is driving because that would be compelled speech, so why is the license plate not compelled speech as well as the tags on it? Combining the tracking and monitoring without thorough investigations of imagery evidence, shouldn’t those using the tools be held to a higher standard? They’ll already get immunity from the courts, so maybe a rap song needs to be done and released embarrassing them as they happen. Maybe the legal system won’t help by holding them accountable, then maybe the court of public opinion will.
I wonder if flock or Axon cameras are used near tolls on the east coast. Great I just cruised through a few on the way to Maine last weekend and I forgot my mask in Maryland. Good thing my middle wasn’t up or they would add that to my record. Scan my plates and see the finger charging me with hurting viewers little wheelings.
