PA: Hampton Police Department hosting educational safety meeting for parents on Megan’s Law

In her time working as the social service coordinator at the Hampton Police Department, Angela Kenbok has learned a lot of safety tips she teaches her own children.

But for parents who work in different professions, Kenbok believes it’s important that they learn how to navigate the Megan’s Law website and tell their children the difference between good and bad strangers. Megan’s Law requires that the Pennsylvania State Police maintain a registry of sex offenders who live or visit an area to notify the public of their presence.

“I work in an environment where it’s talked about frequently, but when you don’t get the information sent home from schools and stuff, you know, parents want to better educate their children for certain situations,” she said.

To help, Kenbok and the Hampton Township Police Department are hosting an educational safety meeting for parents from 7-9 p.m. Jan. 17 at the community center. Tracy Leet, an adjunct professor at Slippery Rock University and a clinician who specializes in Megan’s Law offenders, will lead the discussion. Kenbok said she will talk about how Megan’s Law works, how to use the website and good safety procedures to use at home.

This program isn’t the only safety training the police department hosted recently. Kenbok and Carl Good, a school resource officer, facilitated training for about 12 parents on stranger safety earlier this month. Kenbok said they talked about internet safety and strategies to teach kids when strangers approach them. For example, if a child’s stomach is upset they might be nervous, which could be a sign that they should seek safety with a trusted person.

I saw this and had to wonder…. if the presenters will also be provide information on how to protect children from sexual offense prosecutions for common teenage transgressions such as sexting with or having Romeo and Juliet relationships?? (Because THAT would certainly be more valuable for parents wishing to protect their children! After all, the truth is that registered offenders have an exceptionally low recidivism rate. It’s the step parents, teachers, coaches, clergy, etc. that parents really need to be concerned about. Not registrants. But will the presenters tell them that?? I seriously doubt it.)

Can someone summarize again what victory PA had? I thought the registry was deemed unconstitutional in this PA case? Trying to keep up with all the lawsuits and cases is becoming a full time job…LOL.

The flapping lips of social good making paranoid people. How is it the industry gets to claim increased liberty while denying the dangers of over reliance upon database infrastructure to public security. Clete Johnson: Senior Fellow, Center for Strategic & International Studies moderated and discussed 5G Technology (Cspan) and the strategic imperative (FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel) of supporting 5G promulgation.

Did they teach them how to look out for murderers, muggers, etc.? Of course not because apparently they’re no longer a threat once they’re released from prison……

Sounds like a bunch of desperate housewives with nothing better to do.
I hope they’re training them on how to keep an eye on family members showing to much attention to their child, like uncle Joey always hanging around and buying your kid stuff, basically grooming the child right in front of you.
A lot of people are starting to wake up, The soccer moms who supported the sex offender registry 24 years ago, Are now well into their 40s their children are teenagers and young adults, so now it’s on to the new wave of young parents to brainwash into believing the registry keeps children safe.

Toxic outreach and scare mongering from the sheriff.

“Good stranger from bad stranger/”

The authorities are the ones that are grooming and indoctrinating via shunning and snubbing .

The so-called “registry” will never be a reliable source for protecting children.

You can’t MAKE it work, sheriff!
