WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Gov. Ron DeSantis signed three bills into law that would continue his tough-on-crime narrative for Florida.

One of those bills would punish some child sex offenders with the death penalty.

However, it could face some legal challenges – like similar cases before it.

Given SCOTUS has already said this is unconstitutional, it appears DeSantis is joining the FL Legislature in some wonderful political theater.

Not exactly the love thy neighbor as thy self narrative is it.
He has signed the Act. Ill be looking for post of the statutory language. SOR began “with certain crimes” but suffered mission creep rapidly. I figure he’s not takes my into account how often folks are taking matters into their own hands. Russia made this move about 8 yrs. ago, and just after they restricted America from adopting Russian born children.
One unavoidable human truth is, the more extreme culturally distinct groups get, the more they begin to behave (Act) alike.
Group dynamics 201.

First he takes your right to vote and now he wants to take your life.

How many people are exonerated years later when the “Victim” grows up and remembers nothing happened. Or that mommy told me to say it.
Chances are, he just signed his own death warrant. I’ve seen enough Pedo’s while I was locked up, and I could see he is definitely one from a mile away.

Let me guess next year Florida will pass a law that anyone convicted of a sex crime should be put to death. Only thing Rick Scott said, “ Florida is now scorched earth for sex offenders.” was true. I’m tired of the vengeance coming out of Florida.

This is just a taste of what’s to come nationwide if this fake “tough on crime” clown makes it to the WH.

We already live in a society that amplifies judgment and hate thanks to social media. It’s all fake outrage for political points at our expense.

All these laws are nothing but targeted hate and harassment under the false claim of “pubic safety.”

Major misstep on his part

deSatan is what he is a fascist book burning, don’t say gay bill, lock and load and carry, no voting for you bub, hail to the chief Adolf dumb dumb ….

Ha. Florida’s favorite Nazi at it again!

The composition of SCOTUS is pretty different now than it was the last time this was addressed. That said, I’m not sure the newer conservative faces—Barrett and Kavanaugh, both Catholics who seem somewhat inclined to limit state power—are going to overturn precedent for this, and Roberts tends to try to follow the direction of prevailing winds, which will be to support precedent. So, I’m not as convinced as the rest of you that this is a 100 percent slam dunk to be overturned, but if I were a betting man I’d say it’s very unlikely anyone is being executed for a crime that isn’t murder anytime soon (there’s also the matter of who could bring a challenge, and when, so that could be years from now with a different court composition). I have to say I’m also not sure why it’s unconstitutional—if the DP is permitted for some crimes, can it really be considered cruel and unusual? I just don’t have a ton of faith in American courts at determining this, given the registry has existed now for 30 years in most of America.

This guys ego has literally consumed him, he thinks he’s GOD.

It’s been said that Sex Offender Registration is the equivalent of a social death sentence. So, there really isn’t that much difference between that and what they’re doing in Florida. What’s the point of being alive if you can’t actually live it? Being on the registry so long makes me feel like I’m in Limbo.

Death over sex…Makes sense to what “Floridian” with a brain?

Who will De Santis come for next?

Which one thinks they are “God” more – Trump or DeSantis?
I have a strong feeling that there will be a huge “Blue Wave” come the General Election in 2024.

it be Hilarious that in the future DeSantis might be facing the death penalty he signed off on…

Ronnie,

You have pictures of partying and hanging out with underage girls while being a teacher. It’s also rumored that you engaged in that activity often. Sure it may seem innocent, but what happens when a dictator such as yourself comes into power and considers that behavior criminal.
