STANISLAUS COUNTY, Calif. —A sexually violent predator is one step closer to getting released into one Stanislaus County neighborhood.
Kevin ___ got a favorable ruling from the Supreme Court to keep the option open to moving him there.
Neighbors with children say they are frightened after hearing that Kevin , a repeat sex offender, is possibly moving in near their homes.
In one rural community, where families say they moved for peace and quiet, lives are being interrupted.
Erica Farmer has three young children and lives in the neighborhood.
“It’s just completely disturbing that this could possibly be our new life. That we have somebody as scary as him to be living next door to our children,” Farmer said.
I really hate to play Devils advocate here, but we aren’t talking about someone going through a midlife crisis and having an encounter with a teenager coming onto them. According to the article…. “According to officials, Gray has molested more than 25 children and confessed to exposing himself to children more than 1,000 times.”
This should be included in the posting here, but ACSOL stops short of including that little tidbit. Clearly this guy can’t control his fantasies or desires. And as much as I hate to say this, THIS MAN is precisely why the registry exists to begin with! I mean, come on, why would anyone expose themselves to even a single prepubescent child to begin with? He does need monitoring, and yeah, with a track record like that the public should know about him! But this is an extreme example, one I feel is also a very small percentage. I hate articles like this because it lumps everyone on the registry into being someone like this man. Make the laws make sense!
I agree with H n H. There are serial killers, kleptomaniacs, and serial rapists and this guy obviously cannot control himself and it is people like him that make the rest of us look bad, so in this case I don’t blame the people being scared and unless he changes, it sounds like prison is the best place for him.
“Judge not, lest ye be judged” is a Bible verse from the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 7:1. It is a call to avoid judging others and to focus on self-improvement.
Explanation
The verse is a reminder that people will be treated in the same way they treat others.
It is a caution against making final judgments about someone’s character.
It is a call to focus on self-improvement, rather than judging others.
It is a reminder that people should not be critical of others, but instead should focus on their own shortcomings.
Why are people condemning this person as any worse than anyone else that has served their time in full. How many decades ago did he commit a crime that put him in prison. After he served his time in prison fully, he was then put in pre-crime preventative detention (the gulag, the civil commitment prison, the shadow prison).
Why does anyone believe public officials, knowing what we know about them.
I can imagine that if he exposed himself to urinate and there was a high school nearby, that the prosecutor would say that he exposed himself to 1000’s of children, implying that he did it over and over again, when it could have just been once.
Here is the public record about his crime.
Offense Code: 288(a)
Description: LEWD OR LASCIVIOUS ACTS WITH A CHILD UNDER 14 YEARS OF AGE
Year of Last Conviction: 1993
Year of Last Release from prison to civil commitment: 2002
I am so disappointed in the prior comments to this post from this community.
What is interesting, is this line in the article.
“Every time that he has gotten out of custody he has re-offended. That is concerning,” said Jason Hedden, Turlock’s police chief. “He belongs in custody at the state mental hospital for the rest of his life.”
The last time he was free, that I can tell was 1992!?!? It has now been over 33 years since he walked free! Do you not think somebody can change in 30 years? And of course he admitted to molesting more kids than what he was convicted. To me, that is the first part of healing. The first part to moving forward. Good luck to this guy! He’s going to need it.
If it is legal to do this to this man, based on the presumption that these precautions are necessary, it is legal to do this to ANYONE under the same circumstances.
THAT INCLUDES YOU
It is either legal to do this to anyone and everyone they feel it is “Necessary” to do this to, or it is illegal to do this to anyone.
That CAN INCLUDE YOU, whenever they want. They make up the rules at they go along. They can decide we should all be considered SVP, for no other reason then they feel like it. They can also presume we have committed as may “unknown crimes” of any nature they want, just because they want to.
Once done, they can then reevaluate what may be regrettably but unfortunately unavoidably necessary to do to all of us. This CAN HAPPEN whenever they want. As the registry isn’t punishment, a simple update to the Civil Regulatory Scheme to address the new presumption that we all will commit new Sexually Violent Predatory crimes, won’t be a problem.
Once done, they can then look around the Nation to see if there are any other people that may be just as dangerous, but maybe in different ways. Perhaps all the “Drug Zombies” Musk sees living on the streets?
If it is legal to do this to this man, it is legal to do it to anyone the State presumes is dangerous in any way, and for any reason.
