LANSING, MI — Senate-approved legislation that would prohibit registered sex offenders from loitering near day care centers in Michigan appears to have hit a speed bump on the House side.
Shelly Weisberg with the ACLU of Michigan, testifying before the House Criminal Justice Committee on Wednesday, warned that Senate Bills 76 and 77 would create “a nearly impossible burden on listed offenders and on law enforcement.” Full Article
Daycares are like magic mushrooms that can appear and disappear rapidly.. Anyone can start a daycare out of their home.. Its not stationary nor permanent like a pocket park.. I can see this happening alot.. Your neighbor don’t like you and starts her own daycare.. and you are forced out and the daycare disappears..
DOes this legislation just affect those convicted of child related offenses? I’m rather disturbed by the current trends in this country. We have gang members convicted of drive buy shootings and robberies at liquor stores? Why aren’t be banning them from living near a liquor store? Or, why not ban them from parks where children are present? Its stupidity. Then, we have murderers walking free? Why don’t they receive shock therapy? Or, shouldn’t gang members receive extreme therapy? They are dealing drugs, killing people, using drugs ect ect? Why not chop off their trigger finger? Why shouldn’t they be banned from living near schools? Hmm
