It isn’t illegal to work or to run your own legitimate business. It is up to customers to decide whether or not to take the cab. This guy is working, providing a service to the public, and making every effort to stay on the straight and narrow legal path. Stop pestering him, he is trying to make a living. AND let’s face it: if somehow another crime were to be committed, he would face some serious penalties. All of this is what our system allows for; what we don’t need is citizen vigilantes trying to prevent people they don’t like from working.

Q, my dad owned a small taxi company in the 70’s and hired someone to drive a cab who was convicted of statutory rape. My dad wasn’t a liberal, but things like that just didn’t terrify people like today. The crime rate wasn’t that different from today, but, ou didn’t have all day local news stations blaring out the daily sex crime headlines.

“I thought, Oh my God. There’s a restraining order by a predatory sex offender against a 55-year-old woman who has not been in trouble with the law. This is just absurd. I feared for my life. This isn’t the kind of city we do that in.”

I fear this woman more than any registered citizen. Apparently it is the kind of city that believes in kicking a man while he’s down. Courts don’t just hand out restraining orders, they have to be issued. How can you be in fear of your life when you get issued a restraining order? It means you have to stay away from that person as they want you to stay away from them!
