VA: Parents turn in 13-year-old daughter over nude pics on cell, tablet

DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. — A Dinwiddie mother got a nasty shock when she went through her daughter’s cell phone and tablet. The pictures she discovered were so disturbing that she turned the girl in to sheriff’s deputies.

The parents discovered their 13-year-old daughter, who is about to enter the eighth-grade, had been sending and receiving naked pictures of other teens using her tablet. …

The parents said that they called in the sheriff’s office to protect their daughter even though she could face criminal charges. Full Article

Talk about void of any parenting skills. These parents need to realize at some point in their lives that kids do these sort of things when the parents fail to instill any basic moral standards in their children; and then it may happen anyway. I believe some people would love nothing more than to kill the God given basic sexual instinct in their kids. If ever there was forced sterilization for people with no parenting skills I think this girls parents should be on the top of the list. I do believe the parents of this girl just made the lives of a group of children a living hell.

I really believe a good ole fashion spanky would have done the job, now her life may be over.

In a year or two, expect this parent to get the shock of her life as her child will now be branded for the rest of HER life as a predatorial sex offender, if the district attorney goes by current law in the girl’s district. There are a lot of mom’s in Texas Voices and other RSOL chapters who’ve experienced the same thing, finding out the horrific circumstances of the registry are far worse than any punishment for her daughter doing something that many teens do.

This is what this modern day witch hunt has done. Total madness. Words can not even begin to explain it. Sad indeed.

I have read many articles like this where parents have turned to law enforcement for help in these matters only for it to turn into much trauma for the families seeking assistance. I imagine at some point their may be legislation brought up that requires parents to be held accountable for their child’s actions (similar to the truancy laws here in California) that will require parents to monitor or police their child’s internet usage or suffer consequences. In my opinion a cell phone for a child is a privilege similar to allowing a minor to possess a drivers license. Responsibility and restraint must be demonstrated as well as education in the harmful effects of possessing one.

I could understand if the kid was trafficking weapons, creating and selling drugs, running a human slavery ring, planning to commit mass murder, working as an assassin, selling government or trade secrets, and is helping terrorist organizations.

Nude photos or even videos should not be grounds for turning your own child over to law enforcement. I don’t care how graphic they are or what extreme activities the girl did. Her mother should have very calmly talked about the images w with her daughter to find out what is going on.

This is the real reason why we have a Sex Offender Registry. “FEAR” Parents over react because they are afraid and out of control of their own children. While mom and dad are working two jobs to pay the bills little Johnny and Sally are left alone with the porn-site baby-sitter. To over compensate their guilt they scream Sex offender Sex offender!!! Damn the torpedoes against every registered sex offender on the list. The Sex offender registry started from a place of lost darkness and fear…and from that place it has grown like a cancer to now include many of the children it was put in place to protect. In the end the registry becomes it’s own worst enemy. TRUTH

PARENTAL FAIL!!!

Soon parents will be “mandatory reporters!”

I’m sure this mother is an avid fan of Dr. Phil and Nancy Grace.
