LANCASTER – On Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 5, a teenage girl was walking home from school in Palmdale when she was confronted by a man grabbed her and tore her blouse as she struggled to get away. The man was later found and arrested for attempted rape and assault to commit rape.
The city council will decide Tuesday whether to approve an addition to Lancaster’s municipal code relating to registered sex offenders that would help prevent another young woman from being assaulted like the teenager in Palmdale. The addition to the code will supplement regulations imposed by the state and impose more stringent restrictions on where a registered sex offender can live or places they can frequent, according to a city report. “help prevent another young woman from being assaulted” If the accused assailant were a 290 registrant, would that not be all over the headline? Did this take place in a park, library, etc? What exactly does this have to do with the ordinance considered?
