When are you coming back to LA/Orange County area? Just missed the May 18th meeting

We will return to L.A. on July 13. Hope to see you then!

Will the July 13th Meeting be at the West 8th street address and what time will it be….I keep missing these meetings

Are there any new laws coming up soon to help those who are restricted for life to register? It should be according to case. Probation and Dr. and Public Defender have mentioned this so he can reduce from Felony to Misdemeanor.

Thank you for your time ~

Hi Harvey, we are working on a tiered registry bill right now – AB 702. It was held by the Appropriations Committee on May 24th in the California State Assembly, now due to be heard in January. We are organizing lobbying efforts to try and educate/influence the Assemblymembers at the Capitol. I’m not entirely sure what sort of effort we will be organizing between now and January but I’m sure we’ll learn more in the coming weeks. In the meantime, call, email and write to the Appropriations Committee, namely Chairman Mike Gatto’s office and tell them you support the bill, state a few reasons why (they like to hear stuff like “it’ll help law enforcement do a better job since they won’t be bogged down with tracking low-risk offenders…blah, blah, blah”), and that you feel that our current system is a misappropriation of the state’s resources.

While it may be a stretch, perhaps the failure to act may be the impetus to start a lawsuit in federal court based upon the punitive effect on offenders based upon lack of differentiation between levels of offenses. That would be a bit expensive and would not result in damages to pay for legal fees, though.

If anyone in the LA area is interested in going to the meeting this Saturday in Santa Maria, I will be driving up Friday night, staying over at the Holiday Inn, and driving back to LA after the meeting. We could split gas/hotel if you would like to join me. The room has 2 queen beds.

Respond to this string, and I will check for responses every few hours.
Please provide some way to contact you.

@Rob – We welcome you at our meeting in Santa Maria. Please know, however, that we will return to L.A. in July.

Thanks Janice –

I think I may come anyway. Any support I can give you guys and gather information is worth the drive. Probably see you Saturday!

Oooooooh my.

Would love your thoughts, please comment.x
