NY Daily News Needs to Shame Sex offenders Posthumously

[floridaactioncommittee.org and nydailynews.com]

This week’s tragedy in Washington, when an Amtrak train derailed killing several passengers, could have stood alone as “big news” for the NY Daily News. So why did the news outlet need to run as story titled, “Third man killed in Washington state Amtrak derailment was convicted for child pornography.”

Were they trying to suggest that the deaths were not a complete tragedy? Were they trying to further wound an already deceased man?

My question is what does his prior crime have to do with the incident? Whats next, man killed in terrorist attack was a dead beat dad, or cheated his taxes, as if that makes the death ok?

  2. RC

Sad. It shows that Sex Offenders will get ridiculed even after death. Especially if it makes the headlines. Reminds me of the incident where the asian doctor was forced off a plane. The trashed his background too as if it made their actions justified.

  3. NY Level1

I was ‘shamed’ by the NY Daily News. It’s NY Toilet Paper and those who read it are assholes. This is a further sign of the Trump Bullying Era.
Say a prayer for his family.

You’re kidding, right? This stuff was going on long before Trump was President. Let us not forget that the entire Internet Megan’s Law went into effect under Clinton and him signing off on it. This is not a Trump thing and has nothing to do with him being in office.

I stand deeply humbled and corrected by your highly intelligent response and reminded why so little is actually achieved here by people like yourself.

I agree. While current political climate does nothing but hurt our cause, past administrations are just as guilty of piling on punishment to protect their legacy. Clinton and Obama did nothing but harm. It continues to show that this is 90% political.

  4. Nondescript

To never let a tragedy go to waste has always been the mainstream medias raison d’etre. There is no civility in journalism anymore. I think a letter to the writer/editor of this article is in order with a suggestion to start a gofundme account for the grieving mother they just slung dung at.

  5. Matt Duhamel

I’m getting really tired of this type of news reporting. As already mentioned, what does his offense have to do with his death? We have become such a paranoid, judgemental and negative hungry society.

  6. Eric

Just more evidence that the registry is about continued punishment.

  7. T

It seems that people would rather hear a very popular lie than the unpopular truth because that’s their comfort zone and they refuse to give it up.
