Hey look, another reason for me to never go back to NY. Now if only they would let me off their damn registry.
Many thanks to ACSOL board member Guy Hamilton-Smith who wrote this fact-based and well written article. It is hard to believe that elected officials in the State of New York are willing to sacrifice public safety as well as the civil rights of registrants in the hope that it will increase their chances of being re-elected. They will soon learn that they have made an egregious error.
Thank you Janice!!!!! Thank you!! Thank you!! & Everbody’s comments are fact right on the money. It’s campaign time!!!
Thank you Mr. Hamilton-Smith. Thank You!!!
It is time to get vocal and stop this abuse and persecution. We are not sex offenders. At one time in the past, often years or decades ago, we made a poor choice around our sexuality and were convicted of a crime. We aren’t doing it anymore. We rarely repeat our offense. We are not currently doing sex offenses. We are people who made a mistake. Stop this cruelty. We are being used and abused by dirty politicians and the media to boost ratings. These are lies. This is just like what was once done to the blacks, the gays, and alcoholics. We are being ostracized and hated and persecuted for something we aren’t doing. We have all paid our debt to society. Some of us have lost everything and been in prison for years. We have met every requirement and condition by the justice department for out past mistake. I am not a sex offender. My mistake happened twelve years ago. I have passed polygraphs, psychosexual exams, and supervised release. I have proven myself. Leave me alone.
