CA: CA Democrats Author Bill to Protect Sex Offenders Who Lure Minors

State Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) and Assemblywoman Susan Eggman (D-Stockton) introduced recent legislation “to end blatant discrimination against LGBT young people regarding California’s sex offender registry.”

However, under their bill, SB 145, the offenders would not have to automatically register as sex offenders if the offenders are within 10 years of age of the minor. Full Article

Uh. So, if your a 25 year old man and you have anal sex with a 15 year old, you don’t go on the registry? I personally don’t care about the LGBT group! What about heterosexuals? What’s the difference? Crazy Ca

    • Bob

So, would that apply to those possessing cp within 10 years of their age?

    • cool RC CA

      “Crazy Ca”

Yes your right ! CA was the 1st state that started all this mess.
correct me if I m wrong.

This bill gives the judge the ability to not have someone register. It doesn’t make it automatic to not register. Mandatory sentencing is bad as it forces judges to treat everyone 100% the same despite having wildly different circumstances from case to case. I doubt many judges would not levy registration against a 22-year-old who tried/did hook up with a 12 year old. But they’re less likely to make some register if it’s a 19-year-old with a 16 or 17 year old victim.

      • Joe

        a 19-year-old with a 16 or 17 year old victim…

me thinks you forgot to put quotes around “16 or 17 year old victim”. What a strange place this is. Seriously!

    • David

      “Offenders who lure minors”
Now there’s a fake news headline.

In addition to it’s other evils, the registry is homo- and trans-phobic.

Most well known is Static 99-R, which rates you as more dangerous if you are a man with a male victim instead of or in addition to a female victim.

In regards to this article: sex with a minor within 10 years of your age is illegal. If you have vaginal sex with the minor, it’s illegal but doesn’t trigger registration.

However, if you have non-vaginal sex with the minor (presumably of any gender), that DOES trigger registration.

That’s discriminatory against LGBT people who are not interested in or not able to have vaginal sex. It says “the type of sex you have is morally worse than vaginal sex”.

Of course hetero people get caught in the dragnet too, so long as theyre having other-than-vaginal sex.

I know very little about the Static 99-R and that it is very controversial. Not looking to start another war here about it but have people considered that it might just be factually useful? I know a few people have mentioned that.

What I mean is – is it like insurance is where they do strictly a cause/effect relationship? For example, they say, “if the person has/does/is X, then that person costs N more money” and it doesn’t matter at all what X is. All the insurance company knows is that it is a provable fact that people with X cost N more. Maybe X is “owns 2 dogs”. Doesn’t matter.

Could it be that the Static 99-R questions that you perceive to be homophobic are strictly known casual/risk factors? You don’t even need to respond, I’m just throwing it out there for thought.

My therapist said people whose victim are of the same sex typically have way more victims but I bet there are plenty of people on this site who could dispute that.

It’s funny how the people who wright this shiit try so hard to sound Kool. They have no remorse for putting out fake news till it’s one of there love ones that has to register for life then there like “thats bull shiit my son’s a good kid” and anouther thing I’ve noticed is now that the Me Too Movement has come out people have changed there minds about RC’s
