UK: Man who stabbed his neighbour to death in horrific case of mistaken identity where he wrongly believed he was a sex offender is detained indefinitely in hospital

[dailymail.co.uk – 4/16/21]

A man who stabbed his neighbour to death in an horrific case of mistaken identity has been detained indefinitely in hospital.

Richard Matthews killed Paul Wells after wrongly believing he was a sex offender who raped him as a child, Bristol Crown Court heard today.

The court was told how Matthews was convinced he was the victim of a child abuse ring aged 10 and accused Wells of historical abuse when he moved in next door to him in Highbridge, Somerset.

Today, the defendant, 45, was sentenced after admitting one count of manslaughter by diminished responsibility following the attack on June 25 last year.

The family of Mr Wells, 39, described him as an ‘amazing’ man who is sorely missed in a statement read out in court.

And would the public be outraged if he had killed an actual registrant?

Entirely rhetorical question.

If he had killed an actual registrant, the article would have a paragraph or two about someone collecting donations for his defense.

And this is why Tony Blair said “Ok we’ll have a sex offender registry, but it won’t be available to the public online.” He was still wrong to do it because he didn’t assume that people would just dole out the information once the people got a hold of it from the police.

🤔 Killer is 45. Thought his 39 year old neighbor abused him when he was 10. So he was abused by a 4 years old? Ummm, okay. Interesting.🤔

How the hell did he get charged with manslaughter for deliberately killing someone and if he’s 45 and the other dude is 39 how in the hell did he think this dude raped him when he was 10
This just goes to show you gotta be careful It’s alot of crazy people out there with access to your personal information so you gotta be careful you never know what crazy az person might show up at your house and try and kill you

I don’t know and won’t speculate why this guy killed his neighbor. But claiming childhood sexual abuse seems to be becoming the norm when facing murder charges, whether the deceased is a registrant or not.

Odds are if the deceased were actually a registrant, his killer would be claiming to have seen him watching the neighborhood kids (or something equally obscure) and had to do something, but didn’t intend to actually kill him. We’ve all seen that play out numerous times.

Regulatory, indeed….

Oops he made a mistake for taking matters into his own hands and not minding his business. Another murder from the Hit List protecting society and the planet; which killed an innocent person. God bless fear mongering and hate coming to a country near you. Paid by the do gooders of society and endorsed by the absent minded lawmakers!! Viewer discretion is advised.

My name and address and picture and “Sex Offender” is all over the internet for cp conviction. How much you wanna bet that I get stabbed to death.

Don’t be a victim. Arm yourself.
If someone tries to stab me to death they better get me in the throat on the first poke because that will be their one and only shot. Then I’ll get mine and that will be that.

King George has a database. He looks good regardless.
