Source:  counciloncj.org Jan 2025

The sexual assault rate in the United States continues to decrease, according to a newly released study from the Council on Criminal Justice.  Overall, the rate of sexual assault in 2024 was about 26 percent lower than the rate in 2019.

The report includes forcible rape and statutory rape among other sex offenses in its definition of sexual assault.  The decline in the sexual assault rate began in the year 2019 and has continued since that time.

My conclusion is to get rid of the registry and the cottage industry that comes with it.

Who is going to be the first one to denounce this and spew the unsubstantiated under-reported line they always do at times like this to combat this data?

Theyre just going to claim the registry is why its lower and push for even more harsh restrictions. Common sense says making someone go to the police department to sign a paper and going to their house every blue moon is not going to prevent them from committing a crime if the intend to do so but morons will believe the hype. If it was that effective then there would be a lot less people getting their probation or parole revoked…….

It’s really hard to make any strong conclusions about short term changes in crime rates, whether rising or falling. There are so many factors at play–how much of the population is young men, how many men were jailed in the previous year (which may take them out of the population of potential criminals), weather patterns (crimes happen more when the weather is good and people are out), and a ton of random things we don’t understand. For anyone trying to claim the registry played a role in this, I’d have 2 questions. 1. Why now, and not 20-30 years ago, when the registry was developed? 2. Why are murder rates also dropping?

“Homicide rates in some high-homicide cities, including Baltimore, Detroit, and St. Louis, have dropped even further, returning to the levels of 2014, when national homicide rates were at historic lows. Rates in other cities have largely returned to pre-pandemic levels.”

There’s multiple reasons for the drop such as better policing instruments like DNA & forensic tools that help solve crimes. Higher levels of surveillance with cameras–yes, big brother. Tougher criminal penalties for sex crimes. But what I believe to be the biggest factor is aging of native born citizens, and massive growth of the immigrant population. Despite what xenophobes & America first pundits say, immigrant populations commit less crime. Also, undocumented immigrants are less likely to report crimes, including sex offenses. That’s the key argument for sanctuary cities to encourage undocumented people to report crimes to police. Of all the said reasons for the drop in sexual assaults, the registry would be ZERO on that list. 🤗

Biggest factor? Less reported cases. Simple

Just like the national census, if fewer participate in surveys than the numbers get skewed. Or if they change the parameters then same thing happens. If a tree falls in the woods and no one hears or sees it fall, did it really happen? If someone goes missing , gets murdered but is never found, then it never shows on the murder rate. This survey means nothing.

It will continue to drop due to the 4B movement: no dating, no sex, no marriage, and no kids.

According to politicians, sexual assault is rapidly increasing and everyone is at great risk at all times.

It’s because of the registry, I over here people all the time talking about how afraid they are of being placed on the registry. Everyone knows once you’re on that website your life is pretty much over.
I got off in November and I’m still working on getting my life back together and it’s not as easy as I thought my name still keeps popping up on 4 or 5 different websites like HOMEFACTS.
