It’s Halloween again. It’s my first Halloween since being released from prison. and until Monday, I didn’t really care. Seriously, I didn’t care. I’ve never been a big fan of Halloween. It was always a pain-in-the-ass “holiday” where it’s socially permissible for kids I don’t know to bang on my door. Annoying. Go away. But if I don’t give them candy, I’m the asshole. And it wasn’t much better when I was a kid. I always felt like a mooch asking people I didn’t know to just give me candy. It was just one of those things I went and did just because it was the social convention. Blah. So as a grown-up and a father, when my wife Nicole offers to take our daughter trick-or-treating, I’ve always been totally fine with that. So as far as I’m concerned, I couldn’t possibly care less about Halloween.

However, that’s not how the fear-driven paranoid society we live in feels about Halloween, now that I’ve been branded as a “sex offender.” Full Opinion Piece

I am beginning to see that a tipping point in public opinion will not happen unless more of us speak out. I am saving articles like this, because they contain a lot of verifiable information that can be used in comments when I see a story that is full of myths and lies and begs for a rebuttal. I am confident there are many intelligent people out there who may not be sympathetic to the plight of registered citizens, but hate being lied to by the media and having their tax dollars wasted on witch hunts. And there are many registered citizens who are isolated and feel the facts are against them and need some truth to give them some confidence and empowerment.

Ya know; since halloween is so dangerous and it costs so much to police all the dangerous people I think halloween should just be done away with, banned, taken off the list of national holidays. Then the problem would be solved and everybody could thank the lawmakers for banning halloween and keeping them safe since they are too stupid to exercise a little common sense and see for themselves if what they are being told is actually true.
