SCOTTS VALLEY >> A sex offender treatment center that drew the ire of some parents because it was located near Scotts Valley Middle School closed Monday.
The announcement came Tuesday on the eve of the first day of school in Scotts Valley, months after the Scotts Valley Police Department asked the center to find a new location and almost two years since the facility first opened doors. Full Article
The police asked for the center to be moved not close down, but moving is the same thing because they have no real place to move to…Since the City police department asked for it’s relocation they should be tasked with finding or accommodating the center with perhaps a couple of rooms in their local community center or city hall.
I used to live in Scotts Valley, at a time when my rent was $3,600/mo. It was not cheap to live there and my job was just a short walk away. Very important people live in Scotts Valley. Some industry leading companies are there. It’s a very small town. The last thing anyone wants there is any promotion of ex-felons existing in their community.
Had this place opened in Santa Cruz, just a 10 minute drive away (if that), it probably would have gone unnoticed.
