Roderick is a scum-sucking idiot, we all agree. But there was something FAR more chilling in this rigamarole.
While I applaud Janice’s heroic efforts in exposing this reprobate to the civil court system, AG Tom Horne’s decision to not follow through on harassment charges that, if the aggressor/victim roles were reversed, would have made this case his top priority to milk the “hate RSO” meme, is extremely appalling. Frankly, I find his lack of action on this matter more insidious than Roderick’s.
The action of inaction – or passive aggression – is something we have seen taken to an art form in the wake of these laws.
It almost seems taboo for any politician or official to even wonder if the rights of victims of the registry are violated, lest they be branded “Soft on Crime” which is like getting political cancer (especially in an election year), it seems.
With sentences over for decades in many cases, it clearly falls under double jeopardy.
Although laws in most states make it a crime to misuse official sex-offender databases, no law-enforcement agency, including the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, has taken criminal action against Rodrick over the websites, records show.
And there’s the problem folks!
We’re just going to have to see to it they go to jail for the crimes they commit. Anyone in the position of prosecuting criminals but who chooses to look the other way, is guilty of probably more serious crimes.
It’s time to start looking directly at those who have ignored our requests to have something done.
I’m somewhat relieved; but dumfounded as to why no law enforcement agency has taken criminal against Rodrick or any other operators of similar sites. This needs to be done. These kinds of sites need to be shut down. As one of the “John Doe’s” in this case I can attest to the devastating results caused by these web sites. And how is it the complaints seem to be mysteriously overlooked by the attorney generals criminal division? Even though my life has been devastated by this creeps business practices I doubt I’ll ever see a nickel, I just want the same thing Galvez does; the sites taken down. I also hope these court decisions have set a strong enough precedent that can be used against other sites that publish my information despite the fact that I’m not on the state web site. I’ve felt the effects of this man’s web sites for years and I’m still unsure if I’ll ever be able to rebuild anything that resembles a self sufficient life or undo any of the damage this man has caused in my life.
