Megan’s Law creates a lifetime of problems for everyone, not just “juveniles.”
Let’s not cherry-pick and dance around the issue here.
Exactly. It’s ok to try and punish juveniles as adults but not to subject them to the registry. It’s not ok for anyone…we need alternatives to rehabilitate all people adult and juveniles instead of the torture process we now employ. Our justice system is barbaric and draconian it does nothing to rehabilitate anyone and just punishes and tortures people. Sure its what were stuck with at this time in history but it needs to change completely and focus on rehabilitation instead of just punishment. Get out of the dark ages and move toward a better future.
Yes, there are alternatives that are promising. Their children are held hostage. They are told that if they don’t get tougher on crime then the bogey man is going to whisk their children away. Maybe if this nation focuses more on the Gross National Happiness rather than the Gross Nation Product we will see that making a whole lot of former offender’s lives miserable and at the same time continually scaring the crap out of the rest, is doing nothing but making a few wealthy at the expense of the many. And that can’t be good for the general welfare of this nation.
