TX: Rowlett Couple Harassed After Mistaken Sex Offender Notice

ROWLETT (CBSDFW.COM) – A Rowlett couple fear for their safety after police mistakenly listed their address as belonging to a sex offender.

The Texas Department of Public Safety sent postcards to neighbors within four blocks of the house on Kirby Road, alerting them a “high risk” offender, ____ ____, lives there. “It’s been a nightmare, and I want it to be over,” said Michelle Swindle. Full Article

As far as I’m concerned, one mistake like this is enough to end the SORN Bull Cr*p for good. These insane unconstitutional laws need to go away.

Texas politicians would probably be the first to go against the National governments mandate to follow SORN if it weren’t for the Republican’s influence of supporting unanimously any legislation making punishments harsher for Sex Offenders.

If the tide could be turned here in Texas, it could start the turn everywhere once statistics show how the money currently spent on SORN could be better spent on tracking and rehabilitating the real repeat child predators and not every crime that vaguely has something to do with sex or deviant thinking.

Chris F,
I actually never really had any problem with tough laws when it comes to sex offenses. It’s the ongoing unconstitutional punitive laws years down the road is where I have a problem.
Once you serve your time and serve your Parole/Probation, then you should be allowed to reintegrate into society. And as the Republicans say…”Freedom”. We should have Freedom. We should question the words they spew about “Freedom for All”.

This is where we need to continually write the Republican in the Houses and Senates and Assembly’s both locally and nationally. There is a good chance we may end up with a Republican President for the next 4 years, and we need to bombard them with the facts.

Most on this forum are very articulate and have wonderful writing skills. Rather than relying on the Democrats to save us, we should continually hammer Repubs in office with the problems we write about every single day.

I can’t figure for the life of me why some of you see thus as a right only problem. Have any of you taken the time to see how the other side has voted on individual bills?

I don’t see much of a difference in the actions of either side regardless of their rhetoric.

Amen Brother, I got caught up 16 years ago, served my debit to society but yet I’m being punished for life. Totally unconstitutional against crule and unusual punishment.

What “nightmare” don’t worry it not an punishment.

I don’t understand how an administrative procedure is a “nightmare.” It’s not like it’s punishment…

It’s sad that the media do not see anything wrong after a mistake like this happened. We seriously are treated like second class citizens.

All this harassment going on, but it’s okay because it’s a registrant. Terrible world we live in today.

Would love your thoughts, please comment.x
