[raajje.mv – 3/29/19]

The state’s Family Protection Agency (FPA) has on Thursday established a regulation for the database of sexual offenders in the Maldives.

    If you link to the article, then go to their database, you will see that even for more serious offenses, the length of time on their registry is 10 yrs. Yet we should be listed for life for misdomeanor internet offense. Whatever…..

    • I could be wrong but...

      Is that length of time on the registry or is that length of prison sentence?

      • NY won’t let go

        “The information of an offender will remain in the database as it was mentioned in the regulation for another 10 years even though he or she has been recently completed his sentence.“

        Looks like it’s capped at 10 years

        My bad, read it wrong. Oh well, why would I ever think that a government would do a logical thing. How dumb of me.

    Odd how all these countries are now all of a sudden implementing these registries. I bet the US government is bribing them with cash aid to do this. Has anyone research this?

    • TS

      @Timmmy

      We all suspect it is in the USAID money or other USG funds allocated from your tax dollars in different ways to entice them to cooperate.

      • Timmmy

        Not suspect anymore.

        US to provide additional $9.5 million in assistance to Maldives
        During the meeting Mike Pompeo hailed the signing of a memorandum of understanding to enhance aviation security and an intent by USAID to facilitate sustained collaboration with the Maldives. ”

        Probably need to find a breakdown of what money is used for, and any agreements.

          @Timmmy

          You could ask the USAID office directly without saying what you are specifically looking for as well as go through your elected officials for their assistance on this research project.

        • Will Allen

          It would not shock me in the slightest to learn that a few hundred thousand dollars here and there end up directly in Mike Pompeo’s pocket. Government criminals should NEVER be assumed to be honest. They are harassers.
