A 67-year-old Wildwood man has been jailed after allegedly attempting to use a pickup to run over a convicted sex offender.
William Harold Bailey went to the sex offender’s residence on County Road 121 shortly before noon Thursday and “aggressively” confronted the sex offender, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. He allegedly took a swing at the sex offender, who was not identified in the report.
Bailey got into his tan pickup truck and attempted to strike the sex offender, with whom Bailey has had “numerous civil issues with,” the report noted. Bailey fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement.
$2500 bail for attempted murder is ridiculous and the prep would be a great candidate for civil commitment due to him being dangerous. Another example of the registry causing harm on a registrant. Desantis’ dream of being president should be strung up on a tree and gutted.
$2,500 bond for attempt murder using a vehicle how is that not a slap in the face to the registrants of this area.
Disgusting how the perpetrator is called by his name but the victim is only addressed as “sex offender”
Another VICTIM the FAULT of the state.. The STATE should be prosecuted for this and should be held liable.
The travesty of cementing societal trust the DDI based SOR into the psyche of the people under the guise of social welfare. Indeed! it instead leads to social warfare. More crime and not less. More unrest and less peace.
In adopting the database driven regime both parties were united in their now fruited desire to divide the people. SOR is a prime example, and founded upon the database and with the presumptive benevolence or faith inherent in the machine to solve human problems. Yea, good luck with that.
What folks who support vigilantes forget is that the very same thing applies to them. In other words, someone gets upset can take the law into their own hands and come after them too.
This should’ve been a no bail situation. The judge is giving this asshole tacit approval. Let’s hope somebody does the same to the perp and the judge.
It should be attempted murder but since it’s not, it should be felonious aggravated assault with a deadly weapon since we know vehicles are deadly in the wrong hands.
I really have to wonder why the law enforcement officer on the scene did not give a sobriety test to the individual on the lawn. Maybe with the combination of the Florida heat and humidity with his medication he could have been impaired. Only in the South you get someone to verbally accost someone else on a riding lawn mower! LOL
Repeatedly referring to the victim as “sex offender”, as well as downplaying Bailey’s obvious HATRED for the victim as “extreme dislike” demonstrates that the author is in favor of this vigilantism. Registrants have been lumped into a de facto class of people. At what point does this kind of thing become a hate crime?
No surprise this happened in the Villages—a mini cesspool city of nutcases who can’t afford to retire in the rest of Florida, so they set up their own little conservative fiefdom hobbled by conspiracy theories and QAnon, plus they claim they have no problem 🤥 with non white people.
This is disgusting. I wish there were a lawyer in FL who would sue the criminal and the state for perpetrating the crime with the registry. I would donate to the cause.
I had a problem with this gangster cholo dude in my apartment building, he would get drunk an blast his music all night screaming “I’m gonna kill the guy in apartment number #10” He would also scream “everyone there’s a sex offender living in our building” When I’d open my door to confront him he’d act all kool like nothing happened, or run inside his apartment, He was friendly with the neighbors, even though they couldn’t stand him ether.
I guess for the first time in his life he wasn’t the pice of shiit drug addict loser with stupid tattoos all over his face who spent most of his life in and out of prison, now I guess he felt like a HERO, who was protecting the people in the building from this sex offender.
One night I was walking out of my building, as I was going down he was coming up the stairs all drunk and dropped a 9mm Glock19 from his shorts, he quickly picked it up and put back in his waistband.
This was a complete game changer this dude wasn’t just drunk and high talking nonsense, he had a firearm, remind you if it came down to it, I had the memes to protect myself BUT I was trying to avoid turning my whole up stairs apartment building into a crime scene, so I called the cops and expressed my concern’s of the situation.
Long Beach PD asked me “why would this guy just be targeting you” I told them it’s because ima 290 registrant, when I said that her whole attitude changed she said “how do you know if the gun was even real it could’ve been a BB gun, did he point it at you and when he said he’s gonna kill the guy in apartment #10 did he say your actual name, then there’s nothing we can do if I were I’d just move and drove off.
The guy ended up getting evicted but the feeling of possibly losing my life or taking someone life every day because my name is on the registry was extremely stressful.
