IL: New Illinois law clarifies rules on AI-generated child pornography

Source: myjournalcourier.com 8/13/24

Gov. J.B. Pritzker has signed into law legislation clarifying that Illinois’ existing child pornography laws apply to images and videos created using artificial intelligence technology.

“I initiated this legislation because AI-generated child sexual abuse images are an increasing concern that need to be addressed before technology outpaces our ability to distinguish between AI images and images of real children,” Attorney General Kwame Raoul said in announcing the signing.

State Rep. Jennifer Gong-Gershowitz and Sen. Mary Edly-Allen sponsored House Bill 4623, which prohibits using artificial intelligence to create child sexual abuse images that show either real children or obscene imagery. It also prohibits the non-consensual distribution of some AI-generated sexual images.

Considering the claim that there is a “marked increase” in these kind of generated images…one could arrive at the logical conclusion that, perhaps, more individuals who have certain “problematic” sexual interests, may very well be seeking alternative ways to “manage” those interests that don’t involve phsyically interacting with any real life minors.

The simple fact is, there will always be a certain number of such individuals in any given population (which could, in reality, be a much higher percentage than that population is aware), and, although my opinion is extremely unpopular, I believe that, given the inevitable choice, it’s preferable someone with potentially harmful sexual interests, would always get their rocks off by looking at AI generated images, instead of ever actually engaging in a hands-on/contact offense.

Then again, I’m a realist, not an idealist…or maybe just a nihilist/misanthrope.

“I initiated this legislation because AI-generated child sexual abuse images are an increasing concern that need to be addressed before technology outpaces our ability to distinguish between AI images and images of real children,”

What I get from that statement:
‘It’s not that I think virtual cp is as bad as the real thing, but it’s increasingly looking like the real thing, and soon technology will make them indistinct. So instead of forcing our lazy cyber cops to put in the time & update their technology, let’s just clog the courts & jails by outlawing everything that looks real, along with tacking on the same penalties’

Totally stupid reasoning. It’s like saying pretty soon, we won’t tell the difference between fake heroin made from candy, and real heroin made from opiods. So lets outlaw everything

It just doesn’t seem to make sense that something fake, not involving and not hurting any real people, can be illegal. I must be overly simplistic in my thinking on this topic. I don’t get it.

It’s all security theater, virtue signaling and no substance. They just want to tackle an “emerging trend” or “evolving threat” to use in order it appear they’re relevant in attempting to thwart or combat something. Same thing delusional reasoning with SORNA..

I just looked up the bill – there was not a single “nay” vote in the IL Senate or House; it passed with flying colors. And over 500 witness slips from people and organizations supporting this bill, some identified as representing their church (to Nororious’ many points on the topic). This is in the category of thought police, IMO, if there was no actual crime committed, but people are assuming there may be a crime in the future, or it simply upsets them.

After the Taylor Swift AI generated images came out the White House said, They are personally concerned about AI sexually generated images. Because they can’t stop the production of such images their just gonna attach the registry to it, hoping it will deter people from creating these type of images.
Everyone in America knows the registry is the Ultimate punishment that’s why the government is keeping it safe and unfazed by the constitutional rights of the people placed on it. It’s a way of saying you lost ur rights without saying it.

These criminal regimes just keep proving that the Sex Offense Registries are not REALLY for public safety, protecting children, or the rest of their lies. The Registries exist to make simpleton a**holes feel good. And to grow government, of course. They can’t employ too many of them.

Government is the enemy. As are the harassing terrorists who support them.

How long until actresses that wear school uniforms, have pigtails, are petite & say Daddy, regardless of age, will be illegal as well? I imagine that soon watching any actress that is below a certain breast size, height, & have a smooth mons will be made made a registrable offense as well.

I commented on this over a yr ago and got ridiculed and laughed at here. I said it was just a matter of time before the government dipped their fingers into this muddy pool.

As this type of material becomes more and more common, especially among teenaged “CGI Artists”, will this become a Drug Court issue? They keep saying that CP (All porn?) is addictive, so send these cases where they belong? Drug courts not only save billions a year….

Drug Courts are a money machine! Private Rehabs, sober living facilities, ongoing care providers, Sober Life Coaches, merchandising, conventions, sober resorts, not doing drugs is a multi-billion dollar industry, that gets bigger every year! This “Drug” could save billions while increasing the profits? Become the Global Epicenter of this, “Addiction Recovery” like America is with all other drugs?

Don’t worry K&D, the “Worst of the worst” still go to Prison, just the poor addicts go to rehab to recover and maybe “Get right with the Lord”!
