I was charged with Lewd Acts with a Child Under Age 16 in 2005, the alleged events took place in 1988. After $50,000 in legal fees and facing another $30,000 to start a trial I accepted a plea bargain. 18 month and lifetime registration (the word bargain is not what I would call it) For what it’s worth, the charges were false… but the “victim” got a $5 million settlement from my insurance.
I have managed to be self employed and started building a new career, but I need to have my Insurance License restored. I have taken and passed the state exam, but I am sure my application will be turned down due to my felony conviction. Do I have any recourse? Thanks for any input anyone might have.

I’m in a similar position, and have hit roadblocks from every turn. I wish I had good news, but it seems with a felony in California, especially one like this, the powers that be do not want us to have productive lives.
Is your conviction one that can be expunged? Is/was it a “wobbler”? If you can get it expunged and/or reduced…do so. Then try to get licensed. Read up on Assembly Bill AB 2396 that went into effect Jan of 2014 I believe. There are attorney’s that specialize in state licensing battles.
Hi, I actually lost a professional license some time back. I worked in healthcare. The crazy thing was that there where Dr’s with involuntary manslaughter convictions and sexual battery convictions still practicing? I would research and call the licensing board/for whatever license your seeking. The worst case scenario is they give you a chance. Best of luck
