A Century man is charged after allegedly trying to run over a man he thought was a convicted sex offender as he walked out of a liquor store.
Kinte Hassan Franklin, 45, was charged with felony aggravated battery using a deadly weapon.
The victim told the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office that Franklin was the driver of a maroon car with the window partially down outside the Fusion Liquor store next door to the Food Giant on North Century Boulevard.
The driver, Franklin, told him “I’m going to kill you because you are a convicted child molester,” according to an ECSO arrest report. He then turned the car around and struck the victim in the legs, the report continues. The victim’s wife was with him at the time. She told deputies that another occupant of the vehicle told Franklin, “You just need to run over this [expletive] you just need to kill him”.
Another statistic for the harms the registry caused. Who’s documenting all these? Does anyone even care? No… You have to be knee deep in the mess of the registry for any of this to matter. The other 99% of the population doesn’t care at all about this. In fact, I’d wager the dirt under their fingernails is of more importance than this.
I think it’s really time to start publicly listing the addresses of politicians and law enforcement agents. Nothing malicious. Just the address and their job position. Even include the same disclaimer that information isn’t to be used to harass the person and their family and blah, blah, blah. What’s good for the goose, is good for the gander.
What bothers me even more about this, is the fact that he was released on a $10,000 bail for what was attempted 1st degree murder. I was given a $100,000 bail for my upskirt picture.
More acceptable losses for the State of Florida and the Nation to instantly justify.
I read an article that discussed exactly the same thing. Someone trying to run down a person they thought was a PFR with their car. Can’t find that article again, but I do not believe they were about the same instance. Two different drivers attempting to murder two different people, in different instances. The one I am thinking of was in…Arizona(?) some years ago. I’ll keep looking…
As I recall, that person (mistakenly thought to be a PFR) actually died as a result of the attack. I’ll keep looking.
Did run across a story from Ireland, where a driver attempted to murder a PFR by running him down…and when that didn’t work….the driver got out of his car and stabbed the PFR to death. Here, he would have been finished off with a gun!
I should feel lucky that the man that attacked me in the street only hit me in the back of the head as he ran by? Of course he was on foot, so running me down wasn’t an option. He would have had to push me into on coming traffic to accomplish that. Maybe next time he will…assuming he doesn’t have a gun….oh and doesn’t want to spend the time and energy required to stab me to death. Baseball bat perhaps?
PS….did you read the comments on the article’s website? Not a lot of condemnation for the attempted murder.
Well there it is , in your face , no way to BS around it murder is a lesser crime than a sex offense, so much for if it just saves one ! so the registry are about being punished for not cashing in on your get out of jail free card for killing or trying to kill someone , you can bet if the guy he was trying run over was a real PFR and he would have ran around the car and beat Franks ass and he died the PFR would have been charged for murder and a million dollar bond
This is the smoking gun that proves the registry is illegal. It incites violence by antagonizing those who view the registry with provocation. We’re looked upon by the public like some invasive species that needs to be eradicated.
Yet the authorities have the gall to call the registry a “public safety tool” when it fact it does the opposite.
I just read an article @beloitdailynews.com about a Joliet, IL gymnastics teacher getting 96 years for sex assaults that occurred 2015-16.
The man is 77 yrs. old. His victims testified because they are alive. The murdered ones never get to. So who is it that would convince ” the people” that molestation is tantamount to murder.
Playing the victim is easy. It gets rewarded. Nevertheless, attack always begets attack.
I do hope that ACSOL, NARSOL, etc… are keeping track of all of these incidences where the registry had led to any form of violence. This way it can be used as evidence of injuries and deaths, including mistaken classifications, at the Supreme Court level. SCOTUS can no longer push the “collateral consequences” idea when death and vigilantism are collateral consequences. Death is the ultimate form of punishment and the registry provides such an outcome.
I hope the victim (WHO IS NOT A REGISTRANT) sues the ***k out of the state of Florida and wins!!!!!
