UK: Britain considering chemical castration for sex offenders under prison reforms

LONDON, May 22 (Reuters) – Britain is considering mandating the use of chemical castration for sex offenders under an overhaul of the justice system aimed at freeing up more space in its overcrowded prisons.
One of the first acts of the Labour government in July was to announce plans to release more prisoners early to tackle a crisis of overcrowding in jails which ministers said threatened a “total breakdown of law and order.”

The prison population in England and Wales then reached a record high in September, and earlier this year the government said police cells would be used temporarily to hold prisoners as an emergency stopgap measure to cope with overcrowding in prison.

Announcing the findings of a review into how to tackle the crisis, justice minister Shabana Mahmood said it had recommended continuing a pilot of so-called “medication to manage problematic sexual arousal.”
“I am exploring whether mandating the approach is possible,” she told lawmakers.

Sick.

Perhaps they should try stopping the arrests of people over speech…..perhaps they wouldn’t be facing such over crowding……

Only under a monarchy where King George lost this country would something like this be proposed based upon their punishment attitudes. Beheading anyone?

Funny…(not the ha ha kind)

We were taught in treatment that sex offenses were not about sex but rather they were about control.

How is curtailing someone’s sex drive going to do anything to alter their desire for power/control over someone else?

For people who believe that anything sexual should be banned, why don’t we castrate lawmakers since sex is always on their mind.

UK doing “Bible Belt” stuff.

” No castration without true representation. Keep your hands off below others’ waits and get rid of your mutilating fantasies. If you believe castration decreases sex drives than mutilate yourself or shut the bloody hell up.”

” Medication to manage problematic sexual arousal. I’m exploring whether that mandate is possible.” Why not try the medication on yourself and others in your position to see it manages your problematic desires of others privates, which could be an un-covered sexual arousal you have behind the scenes. Just think how many children would be saved by not having parents who think like you.

So they’re basically saying good news! We’re releasing you early. But first we have to inject something into your nuts 🤭

This seems to discriminate against men. What about female perpetrators?
