MA: Sex offender’s speech ignites debate over registry system

A high-level sex offender in Belmont, Massachusetts surprised many when he showed up to a town meeting that was held to address concerns about sex offenders like him living in the area. Carl Peterson told those in attendance that he was convicted of sexually assaulting his young niece 12 years ago. The event sparked a debate over possible misconceptions about the ‘sex offender’ label and the efficacy of the registry system. Full Article

The Registries, and especially, especially the adjunct idiotic laws that they have enabled and promoted (e.g. Banishment), are counterproductive, negligibly beneficial, immoral, un-American, divisive, anti-factual, diversionary, often idiotic, thieving, expensive, wasteful, and often illegal.

If an RSO were to hold a speech or voice his/her concerns of their treatments, conditions, or their label misrepresentation in California, things would likely not turn out as kosher as being in Belmont, MA..
One would dare not to ID their status in order to avoid any repercussions (especially violent ones).
